The Harvest is Great; The Laborers are Few

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest’” (Matthew 9:35-38).

These verses could not ring truer in the year of our Lord, 2021! The 2.2 billion Gospel poor are waiting in darkness for someone with “beautiful feet who preaches the Good News”! It is why we continue to equip as many leaders as possible in the Virtual Haggai Leader Experience (VHLE).

Many have asked, “When are you going to return to in-person equipping at the Mid-Pacific Center?” My answer is, “AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!” Personally, I just can’t wait for the day that happens. I know I will be present and accounted for in that session!

With that said, much prayer is needed, because the current reality of COVID-19 in the U.S. and in the countries we serve is nothing short of tragic. Our beloved faculty member from India, Dr. Neena Williams, lost her 40-year-old son Jonathan to COVID-19 in November 2020 and her husband, Vijay, in May 2021. Our chief global research officer John Bachman recently reported sharp increases in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the Russian Federation, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Iraq, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, among others. Haggai leaders are in each of these countries and they’re still navigating the sorrow, hardships, lockdowns, and restrictions caused by the pandemic. As this goes to press, the Delta variant has entered the U.S., roaring like a March lion, and spreading its effects across our own country.

Until vaccinations are more readily available, and COVID-19 subsides both here in the U.S. and across the world, we simply will not be able to conduct our in-person equipping in Maui. We are so grateful to God for paving the way for us to quickly pivot last year to design and launch the same transformational Haggai Leader Experience in a live, virtual program.

Throughout the history of this 52-year-old ministry, we have continued to carry out this mission despite significant global events that created barriers to the work God prepared in advance for us to do. God has always opened the doors we needed and made a way for what He ordained for Haggai International.

The harvest is great; the laborers are few! God has given us the vision to equip one million leaders in the next 10 years. We must reach the 2.2 billion who don’t know our Jesus.

Please join us in prayer and support as we “attempt something so great for God it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it.”
