“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us – we implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
Mary Joy Kimani knows her calling. As a customer success partner for a global IT company, her focus is on ensuring her clients realize the value of their investment in the SAP software her company provides. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, she has travelled extensively throughout East and West Africa fulfilling this role with excellence because she knows that the marketplace is where she is called to be a Kingdom ambassador.
Students bow their heads as Mary Joy leads some to the Lord and others to rededicating their life to God.
MJ, as her friends affectionately call her, also knows her passion. She realizes the value of her investment in the next generation and is heavily involved in making sure they are reached with the Gospel of Christ. Almost every other Sunday she rises early to conduct Christian Union services at various high schools in and around Nairobi and often sees as many as 15 to 50 teens accepting Christ as their Savior in one meeting.
However, she doesn’t stop there. Not only is MJ an evangelist and motivational speaker, but she is also a mentor, combining her calling and her passion to disciple the colleagues and young adults she comes into contact with. Her desire is to help them recognize their own sphere of influence and live out their calling to be ambassadors of Christ.
Now imagine this calling and passion combined with a VHLE training in May of 2021 in the midst of a global pandemic. Mary describes the experience as transformational and attributes it to being introduced to the bigger picture and understanding the extent of Gospel Poverty globally. The result was a renewed urgency to spread the Good News and the training empowered and equipped her to begin setting goals and implementing them almost immediately.
In her own words she describes, “Although I knew that I am to be salt and light in the marketplace, the paradigm shift has come in the way of being deliberate to evangelize at every opportunity. I became increasingly conscious that I carry the presence of God with me, and as a Kingdom Ambassador, there should be transformation wherever I go.”
Almost every other Sunday, MJ rises early to conduct Christian Union services at various high schools in and around Nairobi, often seeing as many as 10-15 teens accept Christ in one meeting.
Mary is eager for others to experience what she has benefitted from and knows that because of your investment in her, the Gospel of Christ will go further and faster. This fills her with gratitude and she returns the blessing of Proverbs 11:25 to you, her supporters: “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” She smiles at the connection of the Maasai meaning of Nairobi, which translates to “cool waters”. Your investment in her is like a refreshing stream of cool water that brings life to all it reaches.
