From Near Death to Proclaiming the Gospel

“No one can change the faith of other people. It is the work of God to inspire them to know their Savior and His redemptive plan and process. Religion and culture have a mutual influence on each other. Again, it is the work of God in the hearts and minds of the people. The Holy Spirit helps each person know how to please God. And thankfully He uses people like us to guide our friends, family, and coworkers to know God, His truth, His saving grace, the power of the Gospel, and God’s plan and the assurance of salvation for all eternity,” explains Haggai leader Arjun*.

A retired employee of a transport company, Arjun began his service in 1978. It was not until God intervened in his life in 1990, healing him from severe jaundice while on his deathbed, that God also saved his soul and he began to serve his Savior in the marketplace. He founded two fellowship groups in his company of over a million employees. He shares, “These fellowships were organized and abided by the government’s rules. That is what the Bible emphasizes. To obey the rules put before you. And He granted me the favor to bear witness of my Savior and to serve Him at work.

“The efforts we made to help people in our fellowships, in sharing the truth in love, without hurting their feelings or speaking badly of their belief systems, went a long way. I believe this helped us Christians be welcomed to share with those from various faiths. We came together to pray for the needs of the company. Initially, some of the leaders were reluctant to gather with us because of their official capacities. Still, eventually, the Lord grew our numbers and we started gathering with other government departments and corporations.”

What began with one man, determined to share Jesus’ love with those surrounding him each day, grew by the blessings of God. This one man walks in Jesus’ love and speaks the Gospel’s truth with grace. This one man: empowered by the Holy Spirit to share his faith, even when it didn’t seem wise in the world’s eyes.

Like Arjun, we can put our confidence in the Lord, that what He asks us to do, we can do with Him. “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous …” (Joshua 1:5-6).
