A Light Among Professionals and Students

Haggai leader Sutrisno* has the honor of working as the vice chairman of the board and a lecturer at a theological school in Indonesia. Its vision is be a character-based theology educational institution, producing holistic students. With Indonesia being the fourth largest population in the world and the largest Muslim population in the world, this institute strives to contribute to the ending of Gospel poverty in this context.

Sutrisno’s school offers courses specializing in theology and Christian education. Their mission with these programs is to “produce educators as reformers in work, schools, and ecclesiastical ministry.” Sutrisno is currently in the theology department, teaching on management and leadership. It is through his experience as an award-winning bank employee and co-authoring several books — on many different topics pertaining to God and leadership — that he feels like he can lead these students well in these specific areas. Sutrisno’s personal vision for his students is to “equip young people to find their own spiritual calling, speak their own truths, and understand that the purpose of life is to serve the Lord.”

Sutrisno serves as part of the counseling team at his church as well. The counseling pastor that he serves with is burdened to serve congregations who need counseling services. He strives to “give Biblical consultation that makes the congregation stronger and victorious in life.”

Sutrisno’s relationship with God is like the relationship of the Father with the Son — inseparable. As a professional, in his work he always involves Jesus. He serves God in organizations and churches because of God’s grace, so all decisions are made based on faith and trust in Him.

It is Sutrisno’s personal vision to serve God in a relevant and impactful way. He has learned through the Haggai Leader Experience how to be a better leader and steward of his gifts to be a light for the people God has called him to serve. Sutrisno desires to help others in their walk with the Lord by setting an example of what following God looks like in the professional world. He has devoted his life to God and loves continuing to learn how God is a part of every aspect of our lives.

Continued prayers are needed regarding the prevalence of Gospel poverty throughout the country of Indonesia.
