A Doctor Devoted to Her Community

Chesa* is a doctor specializing in public health for the Mandalay Regional Health Department, Ministry of Health, Myanmar. “I recognize in myself a sense of positivity,” she says. “Whatever problems or challenges I faced, I have viewed them as lessons learned and experiences to prepare me for the future.”

Chesa was born into a Christian family and spent her life encouraged through prayer, Bible study, and a belief that Jesus was her Savior. As she got older, she depended on the guidance of spiritual teachers she met in college. They are the ones who taught her to read God’s Word for peace and strength, and that carried her through many hard times.

“After my graduation, I met my husband, a Buddhist — totally different from me in religion, beliefs, culture, and almost everything. During the two years of dating him, I know God used me as a tool for the Gospel of Jesus with him and his family. My husband accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized. We married in the church and are blessed by God every day, both believing in Jesus faithfully.”

Chesa devotes all the time that she can to helping her community and fellow church members with her medical knowledge. She cannot wait to meet new international friends and Haggai leaders and be able to gain knowledge and tools from them as she hears of their uniqueness and expertise. She knows it will equip her to be used to share the Gospel in her workplace, community, and country.
