As a ninth-grade student in a small town in Alabama, God became real through Christ in great part because of Dr. Haggai. He led a crusade in our high school stadium, out of which it is believed the evidence of a rare and true revival was experienced. It was soon after that crusade that my wife attended another one of his crusades held in nearby Birmingham where she made a profession of Christ as her Master.

Because of a friendship born with my parents while in my hometown, I continued to stay in touch with Dr. Haggai. I was blessed to get to know Mrs. Haggai and their son, Johnny, at that same time.

While finishing my graduate work at seminary, Dr. Haggai invited me to join the newly formed Haggai Institute as his ministry moved global. Though it turned out that it was not God’s call on me to join the Haggai Institute staff, God continued to use Dr. Haggai throughout my ministry.

His influence on my life and ministry is beyond the limitation of this brief tribute, but it was his influence that helped shape the vision for my life and our church, Perimeter Church, to “attempt something so great for God that it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it.” It was his influence and direction which shaped a “new approach” to the structure of our global ministry – moving primarily to equipping indigenous church leaders, versus only supporting American missionaries.

Perimeter Church, as well as my life, have been shaped in countless ways by Dr. Haggai. I would hate to think where my ministry and our church would have been without the friendship, instruction and insights of Dr. Haggai.

So I am uniquely honored and blessed to have been a disciple of Dr. Haggai. His ministry will live on through my life and ministry as well as untold numbers of people like me and ministries like Perimeter. Few will be as worthy of his Master’s words to him entering glory, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

In 1995, after having read several articles about Dr. John Haggai along with reading his book, How To Win Over Worry, my quest was to meet the man who had already traversed down the road that I sought to travel. Subsequently, he graciously invited me to the Haggai Institute for lunch where the staff received me with much warmth and honor. As I walked into the office, I was greeted by his rich, raspy voice full of grace and grandeur. His experience and gentle words breathed life into my dreams of innovatively reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was as if he was reminding me to, “Attempt something so great for God it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it.” After much conversation, Dr. Haggai said that I reminded him of himself when he first launched out to achieve a seemingly impossible dream. He spoke of a few individuals who believed in him and encouraged him to establish what is now Haggai International.

Later that year, Dr. Haggai accepted my invitation to speak to an assembly of leaders of the Global Visionaries Network where he tremendously impacted the attendees. He is visionary leader whose leadership, passion, and integrity transforms lives. Dr. Haggai also has ministered on numerous occasions to our congregation at Cross Culture Church bringing practical wisdom and insight. He is an amazing communicator with an ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

In 1996, my family was vacationing in Maui, Hawaii. When Dr. Haggai found out that we were traveling to Maui, he invited us to the Leadership Training Center. While there, we learned firsthand the kind of impact H.I. was making all over the world. Leaders from across the globe were being trained to become better equipped to effectively influence their cultures with the Gospel. I must admit that after sitting in on the first session, vacation became secondary for me. I observed an attribute of Dr. Haggai: he has a gift of drawing out latent, God-given potential from people. Undoubtedly, his vast knowledge enables him to help people actualize their potential.

On another occasion a few years ago, I invited Dr. Haggai over to our home for lunch. It surprised us that he drove himself to our home. We laughed as Dr. Haggai joked about some of his encounters with the police on the road. He said whenever they caught him speeding, he would occasionally pull the senior citizen card to get out of trouble. As we continued to enjoy our fellowship, my family took turns extracting wisdom from him on things such as marriage, family, and ministry. Dr. Haggai has become family to us; our children even call him “Grandpa.” We are honored that he has shared life with us at memorable moments. In fact, he wrote the charge at my daughter’s wedding.

God is so gracious to have blessed me with a dear friend who has made such a dynamic impact all over the world helping people see God through the eyes of the unique cultures He created. It is my honor to continue partnering with H.I. to end Gospel poverty.

I have no words to be grateful for all that Dr John Haggai’s obedience has brought into my life. My whole way of living was impacted by the vision that God gave him and to which he was obedient. His example of passion and obedience inspired my life, taking me out of the channel of a religion without passion or love for souls, to the urgent need to please God and use all my resources until my last breath to announce the gospel. I thank God for his life and ministry and I hope one day when we find ourselves in the presence of the Lord at “Haggai corner” to see him again and enjoy the glorious presence of whom we love and serve, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

His legacy will continue to impact lives in the world until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now Dr.Haggai is enjoying the glorious presence of the Lord.

Haggai Institute has giving the great impact to my personal life, ministries and even my professional career. I attend HI class in Maui back in 2008. It was one of the best training I have ever had in my entire life. This all possible because of the faithfulness, passion and sacrifice of one great man of God, John Edmund Haggai. The principles in his book Lead On has greatly inspired me and has helped me become a better leader in my sphere of influence. I praise God for the life of Dr. John Edmund Haggai. His authentic love for Jesus and passion for others to experience Him in a personal way is very evident and contagious. I was offered an opportunity to be trained as a Christian leader in Haggai Maui, 2016 batch. The training impacted me towards evangelism. By the grace of God, we have initiated SOTCH, (school of theology for children) in 2017. The objective of SOTCH is to equip children with the word of God. I would not be able to initiate SOTCH if not for the training. Sir John’s famous quote was my motivation, “attempt something so great for God that it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it”.

We have students joining our online classes from Qatar, Australia and Burkina Faso not to mention few classes in Malaysia. About 8 students will be graduating in April 2021 (successfully completing 3 years with SOTCH) and it was my desire to send a video of the graduation of the students to sir John Edmund Haggai as a sign of gratefulness to God and Sir John. Indeed a loss but legacy lives on. Would like to meet you, sir, in heaven for a chat while I continue to celebrate your life here on earth through SOTCH.

You are always remembered, Dr. John Haggai. You are a great servant of our Lord Jesus. Thank you for the chance you had given me through Haggai International to take the Lord’s command seriously, “His Last Command, Our First Concern.” Your mission was greatly done, good and faithful servant of the Most High God. You may look from Heaven now and smile, how you have tracked a way of legacy for us all to continue carrying out the Great Commission. Thank you so very much for your excellent work for the Lord.

But for Haggai International I would have contented to be an ordinary believer and not bothered about evangelism wherever you are placed. I am grateful to God and John Edmund Haggai for envisioning so great a training for people from third world countries.

Dr. Haggai loved people. He was one of the most thoughtful and caring individuals I’ve ever met. His attention to who a person was rather then their position in life was extraordinary. For me this is the sign and gift of a truly God-filled man. Few I’ve ever met have that trait but I believe it was the core of his success in building a ministry that people could totally believe in.

To talk about his obvious success seems unimportant in comparison to the example he set for living what Jesus said were the greatest and second command. He loved his Lord and he loved people.. We will miss you.

Introduced to Haggai in 2003, I was seriously encouraged to go to Maui for the SLS July 2003. And like this year, it was the year of the global pandemic SARS-COV-1. A prophetic friend said that I would make an important journey. That word came in days before SARS started.

Against better advice but guided by God, I made it the Mid-Pacific Centre. The SLS was impactful. And that was also my first encounter with Dr John Edmund Haggai.

It was the beginning of my journey with Haggai Malaysia as on my return, I joined the Pro-Tem committee to start the ministry in Malaysia. A year later we had the first National Seminar.

In our leadership walk with Haggai, we had quite a few opportunities to mingle with our spiritual father – Dr John. And at each opportunity, he has been a source of inspiration and renewed determination and dedication to carry out the Haggai Mission and Vision and most importantly the Great Commission.

Thank you Dr John Edmund Haggai for sacrificing you life for cause of our Lord Jesus Christ, to help birth spiritual life in myriads of souls, to inspire the thousands of Haggai Leaders and shaping a ministry that has stretched into most of the Third World aided by Christians from all over the world.

There will be rejoicing in Heaven indeed. Enjoy the celebrations. It is well deserved.

Dr.Haggai’s passing away is a big blow to the globe. He was a man with a mission and had the skill to network at high places with politicians all around the world. I admire him for being so radical about thinking that Gospel needs to be given by indigenous people to their own community. I had the pleasure to meet him in person in 2009 and spend few minutes with him when I had gone to his institute for SLS seminar. He was old but even at that age he was very energetic and sharp in thinking. Those few days I stayed and learned in Maui were life Changing and I want to thank Dr.Haggai for creating such an institution and opportunity for me to meet many colleagues who were leaders around the world.

Dr. Haggai was a missionary and he wanted to make the institute self reliant and had discussions with me on how to ensure continuous funding for the survival of the institute instead of depending on few donors who regularly provided for each of these courses.

Dr, Haggai was a man with a mission and he ran the race well. I will cherish all my life the conversation I had with Dr. Haggai.

I hope that I too can run the race as well as Dr.Haggai so that I can meet him with Jesus Christ once my days are over in this world.

He has been a great blessing for Indian leaders who have been trained at his institute and are doing a great Job in India.

In 2003 I was honored to be trained in Maui. My life was transformed and impacted forever. That was my first time to personally meet Dr. Haggai at my convocation even though his late night videos prior to the convocation “call for a verdict” brought tears to my heart and compelled me to never take my seat without making the salvation call. This father, mentor, friend and giant of the faith will live on in me and countless other in South Africa. Dr. John Haggai was a friend of my father, Rev. Roy Robertson. They both loved training men in evangelism. I don’t remember meeting him; perhaps I was too young. But I always appreciated the birthday cards he sent us, which he signed. My boss at a Christian organization was a Haggai International graduate. Also, the meditation cards I received were helpful.

Dr Haggai indeed demonstrated his faith in God by accomplishing something so great it is doomed to fail, unless God be in it. My observations with Haggai International have given me the impression of something that would not work by the efforts of man, even a godly man, unless it was God doing it using man only as a vessel. My experience at Haggai in Maui even my impression of Dr Haggai, albeit at a distance, all highlighted his stature as a vessel used by God. It also underlined great passion for sharing the gospel; passion that was ironically well contained in humility. May I meet Dr Haggai in the other life.

It’s hard to find a Christian who hasn’t in some way been touched by Dr. John Haggai’s life and message. I had the privilege to take part in an International Leaders Seminar in Maui, Hawaii, in January, 1998.

It was a very blessed and intense experience in my life. After that, my ministry was so impacted then I started to multiply the Haggai International teaching through of several leader seminaries in my country, Brazil.

Now I’m living in USA and I keep teaching and training leader to the Kingdom of God.

I’m so grateful to Dr. John Haggai and his courage in carrying his vision with faithfulness and compassion!

John Edmund Haggai – A time to cry or Rejoice?

This day (November 18 in US, November 19 in few other places) marks the end of a man named Dr. John Edmund Haggai.

“Attempt something so great for God, that it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it!”

The most famous quote of Dr. Haggai, keeps ringing in the ear and in the walls of the Mid Pacific Centre. When I first heard the news of his demise, there were a few thoughts ringing in my mind.

Should I be sad??? Cry?? Mourn? Be happy? Or Rejoice! (Even worse!)

Some people are uncertain where they may go after their death. But a few group of people who identify themselves as Christians (those who believe in Lord Jesus Christ) are not shaken when it comes to their final stage of life. It is because they are ready to meet their maker, the creator of Heaven and Earth!

Also, they leave with a sense of satisfaction, leaving behind a vision which has been shared, and their responsibility on Earth is over. Basically their job on earth is over and they have received an eternal promotion!

Dr. Haggai did leave behind a legacy, he sowed the seeds of his vision to multiple young men and women. There are thousands of people being equipped to share the word of God and to share the Love of Christ.

Matthew 13:31-32

“He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Vision is like a small seed. But it has the power to grow a BIG empire of people! I am sure Dr. Haggai did that.

When we approach our final seconds of this mortal life (our dying moments), Do we regret all the things we could have done? Or have the satisfaction that we return to the grave empty? Finishing all the works assigned to us.

When Dr. Haggai has left us on this “International Mens day” though Earth mourns, Heaven would rejoice. He would have taken his flight to the heavenliness in the Chariots of fire, with his visa being approved by the blood of the lamb and his name found in the book of life!!!

Do we cry or rejoice?

If we are the army of God on earth today, Dr. Haggai was one of our generals!

After attending the HI Seminar in Maui, 1999, my life was challenged and changed! The 25 day Advanced Leadership Seminar was a turning point in my life, career and ministry.

Since then, I have planted a church, pioneered a school, written 10 books, and have spoken to over 200.000 people in 10 countries.

Without a doubt, Dr. John Haggai was one of the most influential leaders in the world during the last century!

It was an honor to learn from him, serve as Faculty in his Institute, as well as share the pulpit with him as his interpreter during his last trip to Brazil in 2014.

Even after his passing, Dr. Haggai’s legacy will continue on through the lives of all the leaders he impacted with his life and ministry!

In 1988, I met Dr. John Haggai, who impressed me because of his vision of the Kingdom of God and his love for souls. At the time, he presented me with a book whose title itself is quite a provocative “Be a real leader”, his concepts presented there and the way they related to the word of God, fully occupied the center of my heart.

Since then, I have not stopped applying the concepts to my heart and in the many times I have read this book, I always felt how much God had used Dr. Haggai to prepare Christians to share the Good News and lead around the world.

Another striking feature of Dr. Haggai was turning problems into opportunities, he could not see problems as an end, but as the beginning of something extraordinary about what God was going to do.

Dr. John Haggai leaves thousands of leaders around the world who have been influenced by his love for the gospel and his relationship with God. He always shared about the revelation of God, with great excellence, because it was for God and the best should be done. With this he has taught us in all these years that the best thing that a man can have in his life is to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

We will miss you, your wide smile and your compassionate look. We thank God for the life of Dr. Haggai who fulfilled his call with purpose, excellence and zeal.

There is no measure to define the height, the depth, the width of the Obedience of Dr John. All over the world we all salute him as a General of the faith who never seized in his faith, his actions and his mission. In a capacity of Field Representative in Africa, Facilitator and RC in the International training as well as developing locally – life changed forever after my Singapore Haggai encounter in 1997. I always ask the question “What if he never pursued the vision?” But, he did and it impacted the world to never be the same again.

Doc you were faithful till the end – your legacy is impossible to erase. You ‘raised” a phenomenal team around you who are equipped, geared and ready to continue. We as Alumni will endeavor to continue to support and help spread the vision. We agree with Dr Bev, this Ministry will excel and remain relevant in brining the solutions so needed in this broken world.

And then as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the light of glory and I’ll know He lives.”

This was the last verse of the song “ Because He lives” that we sang at the graduation banquet in 1983 before Dr Haggai addressed us. “ Thank you, men” was his deep appreciative response. No less for us was the complimentary feeling. Little did we know that 37 years later, he would see the lights of glory.

What a welcome there is for this very faithful servant , and a “ goodbye” and sweet remembrance from us down below.

Salute to the man of God for his vision to train leaders. My mother Late Mrs C.A.Baksh ( on 18 March 2020 she also finished her race in Christ and my father late A.k.Bsksh on 6 October 2019.)was participant in first ladies session 1977, Singapore.

She was having dream for me to get a good secular job ,was asked about me during her training that time she was not aware that God will choose me to do the ministry for His Church. I was blessed by the books and teaching materials she brought along with her. My heartfelt condolences for a Motivator who impress me by his books. Later I did National HI in 1992 Kolkata.

I was thinking about Dr Haggai last week! Empathizing with the HI family. Ever grateful to him for his influence on my life as well as thousands of others’.

Indeed, you came, you saw and you conquered. Dr John Edmund Haggai, your concept of ending Gospel poverty is a paradigm shift of the traditional approach of sending missionaries to foreign countries.

Thank you for investing in me and many other credible leaders in several countries around the world. You have not labored in vain because many souls are brought to the saving knowledge of Christ and these are your crowns of rejoicing.

Dear Dr Haggai, be assured that the task of soul winning remains at my front burner on daily basis. Sleep on my mentor and great leader. Very soon, we shall meet to part no more on the resurrection morning. Adieu dear Brother.

Today I celebrate the life of this great but simple leader who answered the Call of God on His life to end Gospel poverty. I am so grateful that through His vision and obedience to God I was able to become a trained leader strategically placed in Guyana ( South America) to carry on the vision of ” ending Gospel poverty ” as we carry this gospel to the uttermost parts of the world. I am confident there has been a selection in heaven of the person who will carry on this great commission and mandate. I stand ready to continue working with this team to end Gospel poverty. To God be the glory great things he has done.

It is quite humbling and at the same time exhilarating that a great man of John Haggai’s stature touched my life too. His vision for reaching the unreached millions in a country like India through the development and empowerment of local leaders is unique and unmatched. The impact will only be revealed in eternity. However; the power of the program he envisaged and implemented impeccably, has undoubtedly accentuated my passion for evangelism to make it my life’s top priority.

I was blessed to meet John Edmund Haggai close to 30 years ago attending my first annual banquet! It was an experience that I cherish to this day! His inspirational spirit and commitment to the Great Commission, along with living life from an eternal perspective has had a lasting impact on me. I learned early on that John and I shared 2 distinct situations … our birthday and our love for Jesus Christ! We’ll miss you John! Philippians 4:1-9

Praise God for a life of Impact! Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that was changed, Rest on beloved till we meet in Glory. Your investment in my life will not be in vain in Jesus’ name.

When I received the news of the death of our dear founder of the Haggai Institute, John Edmund Haggai, I got shaken. He has been a great inspiration for me. He taught me many valuable life lessons. I’m thankful for all the wonderful years he spent working for our Lord Jesus Christ through the Haggai Institute. We can be assured by knowing that he is now with our Lord. I’m sure that John Edmund Haggai began with the help of our God a great legacy that He will reward greatly. We will be praying for the consolation of John Edmund Haggai’s family.

I was privileged to meet Dr John Edmund Haggai in His office in Atlanta during one visit in the USA in 2005. A Man with a passion for souls winning and for the vision.
I attended the HI training in Maui and was so blessed. The Man I am today has been built up via Haggai International, today beyond Haggai International, it is a general of God on Earth that is going back to the heavenly palace prepared by the Lord Jesus. Like Billy Graham, Oral Roberts… He made such an Impact unique by HI vision.
Today may we all alumni remember not only him but our vision, may we bring fruits so that he will remain alive through us and after us.

When I met John Haggai in his Atlanta office over lunch , he told me he expected to be around till 120. But he has indeed accomplished more for the kingdom of God than someone who lived 120 years . Such was his zeal and his Impact. I told him that I did not believe that he could learn skiing at 75 plus – something he told us in person during our meeting in a HI seminar in Bangalore . His colleagues asked me to just touch his arms and I was astonished that at eighty five plus his muscles felt like iron. His passion for souls, his sense of humour make him stand out among the leaders who have left a legacy in this age and time. He had run his race well while teaching multitudes in all climes and nations also to run fast and fight well.

On behalf of the Haggai International Board of Trustees, I would like to say how sad we were to hear this morning of Dr Haggai’s death. This will be a sad time for us, but we rejoice and celebrate in knowing that Dr Haggai has been called to his eternal home and is now with his Lord and Savior.

Dr Haggai was a truly remarkable man of God, an inspiration to each and every one of us. We give thanks and praise for his life and the Haggai International Ministry.

In 1991, I was aware of what God was calling me for, but I was struggling with lots of questions, not sure of how to organize myself, the ministry that God called me for, and really struggling with whether this will last. At that time, I was recommended to attend the then Haggai Institute in Singapore, now Haggai International. I read his books, I heard him speak. His faith journey and teachings in Singapore changed my perspective and equipped me for what God had called me for. Full time in youth ministry.

I would trace the pioneering of Youth For Christ/Rwanda to my experience in Singapore, and the teachings that I got then served as the backbone of the growth of this ministry that I continue to lead in Rwanda.

John Edmund Haggai’s faith in Christ was rock solid. His focus was razor sharp. He was clear about his purpose. Well equipped to influence other leaders. His sense of humor was always like the blood streams weaving between the points that he wanted to put across, but especially making them crystal clear to everyone.

After losing my wife in 2015, my kids and I visited him in May 2016. He ministered to me, and my kids who were still so young remember that “Grandpa man that they met in Atlanta”. They tell me that he loves people so much.

Dr. Haggai ran his race. He accomplished his task. May we always ran the race that is before us. There are many more people who do not know Jesus Christ. May we remain focused on the one who called us, and continue the ministry of reaching the lost for Christ.

I am an alumni of International Advanced Leadership Seminar at Singapore in 1995. Greatly encouraged by sharing each other’s experiences. The Leading Edge by Dr. John Haggai challenged me to spear head in my Missionary career in India right from my grass root Missionary work to raising local leadership. All glory to God.

I thank God for the life of Dr. John Edmund Haggai who is always of high esteem in my mind. Honor unto the Lord our God for the grace He gave Dr. John Haggai to passionately raise so large an international army to serve God at a time such as this. He is not here with us now, he is with his Lord.

From the first time I heard Dr Haggai speak, it was the most logical way of helping the world understand Christ. Jesus always changed lives by meeting them in their own place. Dr Haggai made Jesus available neighbor to neighbor and it was divinely effective.

Dr John Edmund Haggai changed the face of global missions and solved a fundamental problem in Christian witnessing and Discipleship-Training local Leaders and sending them back to their own people. In this Dr Haggai revolutionized the traditional methods of Evangelism.

Personally Haggai Leadership training saved my life. The timing (February 2008) was impeccable-simply Divine. I was dysfunctional in the first week being, overwhelmed with issues facing my home . By week 2 the Lord used the training to raise me up to strength. Those 3 weeks equipped me, not only in sharing the Good News but with a life management package that set me back on my feet, prepared me to look up to God alone, come what come may. The training opened my eyes to Kingdom needs, where I fit in and gave me hope to move forward.

Dr Haggai was a gift for our time, and many generations . Rest, in the Lord, Dearly Beloved Brother. You did all that was needed of you in your generation.

A man of God who really inspired me. I first heard about Haggai International in the year 2014 and heard him speak for the first time. I respect and honor his love and passion for sharing the Good news. I always admire the way he has faithfully carried on the God given vision through generations . What a glorious life our beloved Haggai founder Dr. John Edmund Haggai lived! His clear vision and mission birthed 125000+ Haggai leaders around the globe. It’s our mission to carry on the mantle and do our part with the same passion to fulfill the great commission. My only regret is I couldn’t see him in person in my lifetime. Hard to digest he is no more with us in this world. Hope we will all have fellowship together in that beautiful shore. Let’s celebrate the glorious promotion he attained!

Ooh what a man and what a life! Truly he was called and lived his purpose to preach the gospel to the ends of the Earth. His impact on evangelism so immerse and so deep. Am blessed to have been a product of his global ministry. My life has never been the same since that leadership experience in Singapore in 2006. May his spirit continue to push the Haggai family and fraternity to do even much more. – this is the best way to honor Dr. Haggai. May the good Lord who never forgets our good works now well.

After planting a new church for 3 years, I was lost and have no direction in my ministry. God is so gracious to bless me to attend HI leaders training in 2005. The HI experience has impacted my life and my ministry.

I can’t forget the great faith Dr. John Haggai displayed, when he bravely accepted as God’s will, when Johnny his newborn son was cruelly injured by that drunkard doctor. He refused to make any legal complaint, saying that he was a servant of GOD and nothing can happen to his life without a good a good purpose planned by his faithful God. Later, his worldwide leadership training ministry developed, even as he struggled to look after his handicapped son. I shall imitate this faithful response, like Abraham trusted God to do the Impossible in Genesis 22. Kindly pray for me & my family. I was trained at Singapore in 1997 for 10 days.

I’m sure my parents are among the crowd of saints welcoming Dr. Haggai to Heaven. What a life well lived in service to the King. God rest his soul, and God bless the continuing work of Haggai Ministries. We are glad to be a partner in service!

What an honor it is for me to write about a man of God who had such a far reaching impact in the lives of God’s people through the ongoing vision and ministry of Haggai. Though in ministry already, how I thank God for that one Haggai National Seminar I attended in 2003 which blessed me much and facilitate later in a few seminars, a subject I loved, Biblical Mandate for Evangelism.

As someone said, God uses only FAT people- Faithful, Available and Teachable. Dr.Haggai will be remembered as one such FAT person. Wish I had met him when he was walking past us in the corridor of the Haggai Office in 2014 when our friend from RZIM said – There goes Dr. Haggai ! The picture I have of him was a man of his age still moving fast and with firm steps toward driving his car he was driving himself ! Thanking God for this man of God behind the movement of Haggai Seminars , who made himself available to God’s great Commission and inspire the same in others too !

Rare is always the true servant leaders in our Christian world today. Many have claimed to be great leaders yet only with little impact in other leaders’ lives. I would say, Dr. John Edmond Haggai is one of the rare true Christian leaders of our time. He impacted tens of thousands of Christians leaders’ lives.

I admire his vision for the third world countries for the spreading of the Gospel. He let people from the first world serve the people from third world so that the Gospel advances with it exponential growth. His passion for the Gospel expansion is truly contagious! Now he is no more here but his vision lives within us – to put an end to the poverty of the Gospel in every nation!

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.

I thank and praise God for the life of Dr John Edmund Haggai for sharing His life and leave a great impact in my life and my family as well. Thank You Sir your legacy will remain and will continue what you have started. Will all meet in the realms of God after we finish our work here on earth. And all together by God’s grace. Will end Gospel poverty.

I was tremendously influenced by John Haggai. Through his wonderful passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ I could attend the seminar in Maui in the year of 2009. It was life changing. From that moment ahead I had a different view of evangelism and christianity.
Thank you so much for everything you have done across the world Dr John Haggai. Rest in Jesus’ arms.

Just this past week I shared with people two special messages by Dr. Haggai I have saved on my computer: 1) “The Sin We Are Afraid to Mention” he delivered at Perimeter Church in 2002 and “Christ Our Provider” he delivered at an annual meeting of the Haggai Institute a number of years later. In 1984 I read a copy of John’s book “Lead On.” It impacted my mind greatly, so much so that that now autographed copy still maintains a place on my office desk. Subsequent to our personal meeting at Perimeter in 2002 John invited my wife, son and I to attend a Haggai Institute training in Maui. The 16 hours or so of private plane time conversations with John and two other couples were very meaningful. The time at the Institute in Maui was incredible as we witnessed men and women from numerous parts of the world in wholly devoted worship of the Lord as they studied and trained together. I so appreciated the boldness and conviction with which Dr. Haggai always spoke or preached. I also greatly appreciated the manner in which he spoke about man’s relationship with money as a means to greatly impact our relationship with Christ. His wit and humor was always sharp and quick. His devotion to Christine was second only to his love of Christ. John, well done thy good and faithful servant. My life has been impacted by your faithfulness.

The Haggai Leader Experience at the Mid Pacific Centre, Maui in Hawaii USA was a game changer in my life and ministry. I was able to understand how to present the Gospel to my community. Appealing for a verdict became my clarion call. I still can hear his voice emphatically saying ‘appeal for a verdict’ and I can assure you since I returned to Kenya that had been my passion, to appeal for a verdict in my sermon delivery. I thank God for the opportunity to be trained and equipped for ministry. Your legacy lives on.

God’s faithful general has left this earth, but heaven now rejoices and bade welcome to a faithful servant of the Most High God. So sad 😭 for us here, and he’ll really be missed here on earth. However we glorify the Lord for all He has done in and through the life of our father and leader Dr. John Edmund Haggai. Indeed, God’s grace upon him was not in vain. I went to Singapore in 1992 at the beginning of our Ministry HERE IS LIFE. What I learned from Haggai Institute helped me to serve for over 30 years as a SERVANT LEADER. I have lost a father, a leader and a game changer in life who had a passion to train leaders and heart for the lost.

I came to attend Haggai International in 2017 from Zambia although my first application to be accepted was in 1999. I had a privilege to attend. During my time at Haggai my life was touched and changed due to things I experienced due to Dr.Haggai ‘s ministry.
My world view of the world changed and my life became impacted.My life caught fire and I became ignited by the fire of Gods word to end gospel poverty.
I came from Zambia a country in southern Africa.
I can only say that Dr.Haggai vision is not dead he has left the army and legacy through us as leaders across the world.
May the life of Dr.Haggai be cerebrated and be a big lesson to all leaders to live beyond self but through others.

We are sad because the world became poorer without Dr. John Edmund Haggai. But what a rich and amazing legacy he left behind for the glory of Jesus Christ!!! I praise the Lord for the privilege of being part of what God put in his heart as a lifetime calling!

A great selfless servant of God engaged with God and His Mission with a conviction and passion that continues to effect life change in persons like myself to better pursue the mission on addressing Gospel poverty.

By faith, Dr. John Edmund Haggai “attempted to do something so big and extraordinary for God that it would have been doomed to failure unless God himself had been in it” and He certainly was. And through Dr. Haggai’s initiative, Haggai International has managed to equip over 123,000 strategically positioned leaders of 189 nations to more wisely and effectively fulfill the Great Commission. Now, he rests in peace, but “his works will follow him”.

Dear John,

The Lord bless your soul a million times. As the host of heaven accompanied you on your journey homeward, I am sure there was a voice waiting to welcome you with those treasured words, well done, thy good and faithful steward, enter into My rest.

I pledge to continue to ATTEMPT SOMETHING SO GREAT FOR GOD IT IS DOOMED TO FAILURE EXCEPT GOD BE IN IT. From those words of yours, I have since adapted mine: It is futile to say it will not be done until I discover it cannot be done. Deeply indebted to God, for sending across a great influencer in my life , Dr John Edmund Haggai, about being a disciple of Jesus Christ, with a practical approach to Evangelism and leadership. My life personally was immensely blessed through Haggai ministries and Dr Haggai’s life and literatures have challenged me to have a better outlook. His stewardship outlook has challenged me a lot. Thanks God for an example of his stature.

There are not enough words to express my gratitude to the Lord for Dr. John E. Haggai. Long years ago I met him here in my city (Santa Cruz-Bolivia) and it was so encouraging to see his commitment to sharing the Gospel everywhere. I had no idea until that time that I would be trained at Haggai Institute to do the same. His life has been an example to follow to me, honoring God and take Jesus’ last command as my first concern.
I praise God for Dr. John and give to Him thanks because I am one of the thousands that had the privilege of being part of this family, Haggai Family Alumni.

I did not have the opportunity to meet him personally as I hoped during our international Seminar in Singapore 2006. But his life, his vision, his passion, his zeal for cross-cultural and culture-context evangelism was felt by us. I was glad to at least see his face during our Alumi congress in Lagos 2013.

He would be missed but he had gone to glory. May the ideals for which he lived and died live longer, till Christ returns.

I met Dr. John Haggai in the summer of 1960 when he came to Natchitoches, Louisiana to preach a City Wide Crusade, where I was the Crusade Coordinator. I had just returned from active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. I was invited from time to time to come help in the advance preparation of City Wide Crusades wherever Dr. Haggai was preaching. In 1967 I joined the team Full time as Administrator, and in 1968 we did a City Wide Crusade in Djakarta, Indonesia. That lead to the recognition of a need. Many indigenous leaders were ready and willing with some divine leadership training — they became the World’s Largest and Most Effective Evangelistic Force ever created. Dr. John Haggai had this vision, this commitment and the results are on going. What a life, What a Blessing!
I am honored to have been a small part of such a Wonderful and such an Awesome God Inspired Mission. Many Souls are in heaven because of Dr. John Edmund Haggai!

Dr. Haggai didn’t just start well but also finished well. This is because his legacy will remain not only for this generation but until the coming of Jesus Christ, living on forever and ever. I expected to join Haggai Experience in Hawaii so that I could meet him in person. However, I was glad to at least meet him via a welcome remark, making me feel confident to learn and eager to apply it. Personally, I thank him for making this experience happen through his abundant, tireless work. His death was a huge loss to the family of Christ and the world. Our brother John was such a kind and thoughtful man. He’s going to be missed so much.
I was honored to met him personally in 2014, and I spent a whole day with him and shared the food with him.
He loved the Middle East so strongly, I kneeled with him, and he prayed to the Arab countries, and he called me “Habibi” in Arabic.
He was very keen on the most accurate details, he was asking me about my stay at the hotel if I was comfortable, and he was even asking about the taxi that will take me to the airport, he took care of everything and he told me about his longing to visit Jordan, and I invited him more than once but his health conditions did not allow.
Through Christmas and Easter time I was personally sending him private e-mails and he was answering me in less than 12 hours, and I was surprised by the speed of the reply, he taught me that it is not appropriate to let people wait.
He loved everyone, they loved him, and they honored him.

When I first heard about Haggai International back in 2006, I only knew that this is the best place to learn about Christian Leadership. Then I learned that this ministry is the fruit of the vision, mission and determination of one man, Dr. John E. Haggai.

And Haggai International was not about leadership but it is about listening to God’s heart then giving our all for Him. The best Christian leadership is but a natural result which flows out of a live given to God’s passion for the lost world.

I saw Dr. John E. Haggai in the flesh, only once when he visited Bali in 2016 but was not able to get close to him due to so many people wanted to have selfie with him. LOL. But watching a man in his old age and yet still radiated with passion for the work of God was amazing. It is so obvious how he still influences and inspires others all around him to do the good work which Jesus Christ had commanded us to do.

I testify that this man and all the people which had been transformed by his works altogether they have transformed my life to become a man for God that I am today. The lesson from Haggai National Seminar, as it was called in 2007, helped me to see a complete picture of all the important teachings which I have learned throughout my years in Christianity. I saw why, what, when, how and will you do it; in that one leadership seminar.

Now I have in turn, equipped and equipping, thousands of people with what Haggai International and National ministry have empowered and equipped me to do.

To achieve something for God that it is doomed to failure unless God be in it and to keep on keeping on until finishing well. Truly a live worth living.

I mourn over the pain of his absence, but rejoice in the Lord in his glorious enjoyment in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints,” Psalm 116:15…and “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ” 2 Corinthians 5:8 . I met Dr. John Edmund Haggai in Hawaii in the year 1985 and, as an alumni, I can only look back in time with a deep appreciation of the vision that God gave him and the mission that was birthed therefrom.

We celebrate his life and ascent to glory and praise God with thanksgiving for his life and work.

After weeks of anticipation, I finally met with Papa Dr. John Edmund Haggai in October of 2005 in Singapore during our Class No 571 Session. I had before then read lofty things of his exploits in ministry that intrigued me. Meeting him and hearing him talk endeared this great man of God to my heart even further.
“Attempting stuff so great for God, it’s doomed to fail unless God be in it” philosophy guided and encouraged great exploits in my heart for God from then till date. Papa’s brand of faith and courage conveyed through verbal discourses and messages and through his many books around Johnny, is contagious and soul lifting, especially to those of us struggling back then over whether God was there or not! I thank God for the great and extraordinary life of this great and extra ordinary man of a great and extraordinary God.
Dr. JE Haggai was exemplarily humble and simple to a fault, for some one so great in God with proofs abounding, I loved him, I admired him all through!

I am from the Philippines and had Haggai training in Hawaii way back 2000. I praise God that through Haggai ministry and vision, the mandate to share the Good News and became more intentional to me. I became consistent and bold in doing so and used my position of influence as a school directress of a school for special children. The parents and teachers of these children would hear the gospel through me and my husband (a pastor), and later on through my daughter (speech pathologist) who are all graduates of Haggai. Our small family of three are forever thankful for this ministry entrusted by God to my precious brother in Christ, John Edmund Haggai. By the way, my parents-in law are also graduates of Haggai… three generations who benefitted in this ministry. To God be the glory!!!

I remember the time he greeted us so warmly when HIAAM Miri organized a dinner for him. It meant a lot that Dr. Haggai and his leadership team flew all the way to the small town of Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia just to encourage us in person.

HI Advance Leadership Seminar was a lifeline to me when I started out in pastoral ministry 17 years ago.

Praise God for Dr. John Haggai & your leadership team and facilitators to give us the tools and inspire us to make a serious personal and corporate commitment to the Great Commission.

I was not a Christian when Haggai Institute (Haggai International’s name at the time) hired me to do some video work at their Maui location many years ago. I’ll never forget Dr. Haggai’s booming voice as he spoke at the convocation ceremony, the passion he had for Jesus. This experience planted a seed in my heart that eventually blossomed into my becoming not only a Christian but also a three-month volunteer at Haggai International in 2017, 2018 & 2019.

Dear John Edmund Haggai Sir,

You replicated yourself and passion in many lives. Enjoy the fruit of your labor with the Lord you served so faithfully while alive on planet earth. You have equipped us to serve the Lord and humanity starting from our locality. By God’s grace we will continue to do that. Rest on Dear Saint, till we meet to part no more. It’s well.

I praise God for the life, testimony, and ministry of Dr. John Haggai. I thank God for the principles of Christian life I learnt through the ministry of Dr. John Haggai. What impressed me the most and continues to inspire and motivate me, is Dr. Haggai’s reminder – to definitely appeal for a verdict every time I present the Gospel. May the Spirit of God continue to further Dr. John Haggai’s global ministry.

Words fail me as I attempt to describe my grief and sorrow at the news of Dr. John Haggai’s transition to glory. The organization he founded, which bears his name and which has reached and touched so many lives all across the earth will likely be a lasting tangible memorial and testimony of his life’s work, witness and God-given purpose. Yet I think it is the countless men, women and children in heaven, whose souls have been saved because those who his work helped transform, helped reach and transform them, that will tell the real story of Dr. Haggai’s faith and his faithfulness to the cause of the life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ. I think Dr. Haggai’s passing must also be a reminder to us who remain that we each must continue to valiantly carry the baton he shared with us until we are called or He comes. I offer sincerest condolences to the HI family all around the world and especially to those who had the privilege of intimately sharing in the life of this good and faithful servant of God.

He is my hero and encouraging forces power. Thanks for your shining example on earth.

What a mentor! What a model of Christian service and character! What a giant of faith! An oak tree has fallen! God, Almighty, increase my / our faith, so I / we can have the kind of vision and courage he had! May my / our path(s) shine brighter as we march on to complete the task at hand: ending Gospel poverty in the world! Grace and Peace! (Acts 13:36).

A gallant Soldier of Jesus Christ has departed out of this sad World into eternity. The legacy of Dr John Edmund Haggai lives on. I would continue that legacy of soul winning for Jesus Christ in rural Communities in Northern Ghana.

Simply put, I have come across no one else with the style and verve of Dr. John Edmund Haggai, and that’s putting it mildly.

When in 2001, I received an invitation to join Haggai International as its website manager and editor, I received welcome greetings from a few, some quite elaborate. From Dr. Haggai there was half a line in an email (copied to the management): “For long I have prayed for someone like you.”

Twenty years have gone by, that half-line has kept me going full steam in the organization I remain wedded to, through thick, thin, sunshine and storm.

When I was trying to survive the inevitable teething problems of the rather complex job including experts from different nations and heads and directors all the way from Brazil to the US on the team, once more I saw an email from him in my Inbox. If I thought he was going to arbitrate, I was left thinking. All he wrote was, “I am watching from the wings, and tapping my foot in prayer.”

He knew what to say and do in any situation, and that endeared him to the heart for life. When in 2003, I was going to serve as faculty for the first time in an international leadership session at Singapore, I was fearful and quivering from head to foot. In the secular world, I had moderated and taught easily enough in other forums; nevertheless, facilitating at a Haggai seminar for the first time can reduce the bravest soldier to dust, so exalted are the standards. Ten minutes before time, with my hand on the door knob, I was about to enter the classroom when Ivy Mary Abraham came running with a mobile phone in her hand. It was Dr. Haggai on the line. He assured me it was going to be a power-packed session, he said he had confidence in me. He said a brief prayer for me. The session did not worry me thereafter, I floated through it from Cloud Nine.

His responses to events could never be predicted. In a Haggai Newsletter for international alumni which I was bringing out for the then VP of International, Mr. P.K.D. Lee, I introduced a column called THE FOUNTAINHEAD through which Haggai leaders could address questions to Dr. Haggai. Fr.Matthew Kukah, a Haggai leader from Nigeria (who is now an exalted bishop) posed this question: “Haggai Institute is constructed on and around you. What will happen when you move on?” In normal circumstances, I would have considered it audacious and trashed it. However, aware of the fact, that Dr. Haggai had a great fondness for Fr. Kukah, I sent in the question.

After two days, when there was no reply from the fountainhead, (as a rule, JEH responded to mails he received before a day ended) I sheepishly informed Mr. Lee what had happened and faced a wrath of sorts. Barely had I gone through it with burning cheeks, when there was a response from Dr. Haggai in my Inbox. He responded to the question in detail, giving the example of D.L. Moody’s ministry, after the latter’s death, which may have gone through a very brief lull, but then Moody Bible Institute became stronger than ever. “If a ministry has been for the Lord, it is sustained by divine power. If it has been built around a person, it will not survive.”

Praise God Haggai International will face no such acid test. More than a decade ago, the founder willingly gave over the reigns to those who would carry on the legacy of Jesus Christ entrusted into his being.

Dr. Haggai has faithfully finished his task.

Long live the Christ.

Dr Haggai’s life has been profoundly impactful. He has left his foot print in the sands of time. His influence on my life personally is effective, effectual and perpetual.
I had the rare opportunity and privilege of attending the Haggai Institute training in Singapore in December 2001. And my life has not remained the same since then. I have joined efforts with brethren(alumni),in my area(Kwara State of Nigeria),to train several other Christian leaders. And these are doing exploits for God in diverse ways.
The work of Dr Haggai for the Lord Jesus Christ, has multiplied all over the World. And the heavenly harvest is rich and bountiful in Dr Haggai’s account.
I have grown by the grace of God to become an ordained Reverend. And when I went for Theological training,my training at the Haggai institute became a bedrock foundation and a launching pad for me.
I recall the memory of my Haggai institute training every day of my life.
Now that the initiator, motivator and mentor of all of us(alumni),all over the world has gone to be with the Lord,we mourn,but we also rejoice.
This because, it is sure and certain that Dr Haggai is having a fitting and befitting REST with the Lord. Hallelujah.
Dr Haggai was the Apostle Paul and Barnabas of the present and future generations.
We now have to continue to work hard for God till the end, so that at the end of our own sojourn, we would be qualified to be where he is now, with the Lord.
Let me die the death of the righteous and let my end be like his. Num.23:10.

I never met him in person but had the honor of chatting with him along with my classmates at Haggai institute in Maui in 2017. It was memorable. He answered questions on ministry, calling, leadership and family. I saw a man so passionate about his convictions and that fired me up the more. I’m so grateful to be part of this vision. I must do my part and also pass on the baton when it’s time. Thank you sir for answering the call and obeying the vision. But take your rest, beloved God’s general as you await the final Thank You from the one who sent you.

Dr Haggai left an indelible foot print, as he lived an impactful life. The impact of his life and ministry in my personal life is eternal. Since I had the rare opportunity and privilege of attending the Haggai International Singapore in December 2001, my life has not remained the same again.

After the leadership training,I have joined efforts with alumni of the institute in my area, to train several others. I noticed that the Haggai training, enabled me and others to enthusiastically work for God always with joy and happiness.

I have also been helped by God to grow to become an ordained Rev. Even when I went for theological training, the Haggai training became a foundation, bedrock and launching pad for me to move on in the strength of the Lord.

I thank the Lord for sending Dr Haggai as an Apostle Paul and Barnabas of many generations. I have no doubt that Dr Haggai is already with the Lord for a fitting and befitting REST.

Let me die the death of the saint and let my end be like his: Num. 23: 10.

My wife and I first attended a Haggai Area Seminar in our church, St Andrews Church, in Chennai India in 2001 and were deeply touched by what we learned. Our transformation began then along with a revival in our church. In 2010, I was nominated to attend the Haggai International Seminar at the mid-Pacific Centre in Maui. Although accepted, I was unable to attend due to the precarious health of my in-laws who we were caring for in our home. I was finally able to attend in 2015 by which time they had both passed away.

Within a week of my return, my wife asked me, ‘What happened in Maui?’ although I had been continually in touch with her from there and described the program to her in some detail! When I asked her what prompted the question, she said I had changed. Indeed, that was the first manifestation of my life’s transformation as I submitted to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shortly thereafter, during the study of Revelations, the Holy Spirit convicted me of my ‘idol’, a large, powerful sedan that was the pride of my life. In submission, I sold it.

I became involved in the local Haggai Association, the oldest in India, and was elected its President in 2017. Our focus has been on seminars to train leaders as well as to vitalize the alumni with fellowship and opportunities to renew their zeal to serve the Lord. Opportunities opened up in the church as well with my being invited to lead the newly formed Men’s Fellowship. I attended the Haggai Faculty Training and became a facilitator for Mandate and facilitated at National and Area Seminars in the South. I am now also invited to minister to youth as well as speak at various churches and fellowships.

I have a marketplace ministry and witness Christ in the workplace, actively ministering to young people and drawing them to Christ. As I increasingly submit to the Lord and serve Him, I cannot help but feel grateful to John Haggai for his vision and Institution that empowers people like me to become powerful witnesses for our Lord and Savior. As more opportunities open up, I see the reality of what he wrote about in his book, ‘The Influential Leader’ working in my life. And I am ever so grateful to him for enabling tens of thousands of leaders like me from across the world to be transformed to become Christ’s representatives in our countries.

Now a job well done Dr. Haggai hearing personally as he enter his Master loving arms of peace and glory ever more.

I attended Haggai in Maui in 2004 and the FDS in 2005. Dr Haggai’s “attempt something so great for God that it is bound to fail except God is in it” motivated and challenged me to try the seeming impossible. By the grace of God the Bible Society of Ghana where I served as CEO at the time attempted and achieved the seemingly impossible.

His life epitomized what God can do with one surrendered soul on a global scale with millions impacted.

I was led to discussing ministry and other life issues with a friend when he directed me to reach his Pastor. I did and that was my introduction to Haggai International. The journey to training was long and tortuous but I finally was helped by God to attend Singapore in November/December 2006 and was trained under distinguished Faculty. I also forged new networks which I still cherish and met up with fellow Singapore 206 session 653/654 in places such as Lisbon, Portugal and London, England. I give thanks to God for the life and ministry of Dr John Edmund Haggai and Haggai International. I acquired almost all his books in Singapore and still read these spiritually uplifting guide books.

Dr. Haggai, an enigma who lived what he preached and preached what he lived. Never met another man who inspired me like he did even in the brief moments of our encounters. His video teaching on Goal-setting when I attended HI in 1999 was the game-changer for me and put me clearly in the path I am following today.

Each time I listened to his irresistible, slurry but compelling baritone voice. even in casual conversation, I came away feeling like someone with wings strapped on his shoulder. He was such an inspiration.

Great wit. Memory of an elephant. Statesman whose simplicity belied his intimidating accomplishments.

When I sat at lunch with him at the celebration of his 90th birthday, all I could ask myself was, “How did God pack so much in one frame?” I could write an entire epistle on Dr. Haggai. Knowing what I do about him, I am sure he must have exited earth with a smile of triumph and speaking the lines of apostle Paul, “I have fought a good fight, I have run a good race finished my course”

Enter into your reward General, as you continue to live on in the lives of the over 123,000 alumni of HI globally and the millions of people who they have impacted and continue to impact.
Monuments crumble. Empires go into oblivion. But legacies live forever. So do angels!

A great man with a great vision to which he worked hard to achieve in order to serve the Lord. His life affected thousands all over the world. “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Dr John Edward Haggai joined his Lord after being in the service of Him for 75 yrs. He successfully completed his probation on this planet. We celebrate his life and also celebrate the certainty of our hope to see him on the other shore.

It was on 1st June 1973, that I met Dr. Haggai in Atlanta for the first time. I remember spending a day together in his office, then known as Office of Evangelism International before the name changed into Haggai Institute for relevant reasons. We discussed and shared a number of things in training leaders. Also, he took me to his home and introduced me to his family, Christine, Johny (on wheel chair) and Christines’s mother, mother Barker.

While in his office, he showed me a place in which he fell prostrate and prayed for guidance before sending messages to the prospective participants of the very first session. It was due to a last minute financial crisis. But, after he got up from that prayer, he received a message over phone from a generous donor informing him about transferring the required money to the bank account.

I owe very much to Dr Haggai, especially in learning many useful aspects of the ministry through the opportunities given to me. Surely, spending 35 years on the faculty and as the Dean of the Haggai Institute were opportunities to listen to the lectures of eminent men and women and also to listen to Dr. Haggai’s messages, and learn a lot of insights.

We experienced as a family (my wife cared for our two sons Johny & Ronnie and Annie) his humility to stay at our home (in Tiruvalla, Kerala) for 4 days and his tender care and participation in our family prayer. He and Christine and a group of friends from USA under the leadership of Mr. John Bachman, spent an entire day with us by taking a (bus) road trip of 200 kms (both ways) from Cochin.

My active participation with the Haggai Institute activities in Singapore, Maui and a few countries (during national level session) keep coming fresh to my memory at this time. Now I am 81 years old – I was 33 and Dr. Haggai was 48 when we first met.

I pray that the God of all comfort will continue to comfort all of us who are grieving at this time.

Visionaries are born one in a generation. Dr. Haggai was one of them. He impacted an entire generation with the gospel. I am fortunate to be one beneficiary of his ministry. I am fascinated by his zeal, hard work and passion for the Lord. God raised him up for the entire globe. He lived a full life and created a legacy which will impact the generations to come. So I celebrate his life and ministry and thank God. May God continue to impact many with the gospel in times to come

A man whose life has been a blessing not only to me but to nations! I was blessed to be a part of the 2007 international leadership program in Maui! Even though I never met Dr Haggai personally, Dr Haggai was a close friend of a friend of mine, Fr Anthony Dsouza & they both had a special admiration & mutual respect for each other. On Dr Haggai’s home coming, my heart goes out to the thousands of Haggai members who are an integral part of his family, and will miss him ! “His last command ,our first priority.” As you left the stage at the African Summit of Alumni of Haggai International in 2013, you keep repeating these words. The struggle within me was ” If a man approaching 90 years of age can be this committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, what am I doing with my life” I re-devoted my life to the great commission.

Such is the impact your ministry on earth had on some of us. I became an Alumni of HI in August 2006, and I have not recover from the impact the training back then had on me. By the grace of God, this is one training that the things I learnt am still practicing till date. Such is the impact of your sojourn on this side of eternity. I can go on and on to share the great impact that your accepting to do God’s bidding have had, and still having upon our generation.

Bodily it’s painful because you will be greatly missed. Even though, some of us don’t have the privilege of seeing or interacting with you daily, but your emails to us, your birthday celebrations that Alumni had to come together to evangelize makes us to know you are not far from us.

Your legacies lives on with us. As God will help me, I promised to be active in carrying on your legacies. Your passing will make me evaluate my life, to see if am actually doing the work that the Master will have me do, or am just playing to the gallery to get the applaud of men. Since 2013 I have been writing about the ministry that Dr Haggai initiated to donors here in the UK. To read his story and hear his amazing legacy left with his words “Attempt something so great for God, it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it.” is inspirational.

His legacy for life and his passion that we all fulfill our unique influential part of the jigsaw within the big picture that only God sees and calls us to will remain and inspire us to go on to do so much more.

God bless all those who know and love Dr Haggai personally. We can celebrate a life lived to the full and many many lives around the world impacted by the Gospel in ways that only became possible through his obedience to the call God placed on his life.

Dr. John Haggai was a name fully recognize in the arena of Gospel workers all along 1969 till he breathed his last. As I was graduated from SIBS in 1969, they have opened a door to witness among the most needy and beloved people Muslims, where my heart was. As I was ploughing into the field I was invited by Dr. Varghese Kattapuram who was my professor in the, same, Seminary also that year in 1971, he, was a faculty in Haggai Institute in Singapore. He said there is a ticket available CV John why not join me.? There I had no intension to run away from my priority. This event kept me open to the ministry of Haggai ministry focussed in my mind, coz the trained ones were great leaders in the global community par excellent.

So when the time came I was able to see my one and only wife getting this training in Singapore in 1991, then my first son V C John, also was able to get in and, be blessed in 2019 in USA. I was a very enthusiast to encourage many to take up this 21 days program.

I am still looking forward to see this program be promoted to maximum candidates . Dr John Haggai ‘s vision met the most essential need of finding focussed evangelism by committed people. As, I look back there is much to thank God for the life and mission of Dr. John Haggai, to whom only the Almighty can reward adequately. Here I wonder why many wait for some one to go ahead and some, others to follow them, thinking that world is too small.

No, any life committed to Christ is a unique species. God honors, such one to lead many sons of men to the Son of God.

My family join in this tribute to thank God for Dr. John Edmund Haggai there is no condolences but I feel celebrated his entry to the heavenly portal. Let the CEO of Haggai Institute and the teams, do the rest of the unfinished task in the Kingdom of God.

Hasta el día de hoy es una norma en mi vida como predicador y amigo. I just want to thank God for Dr Haggai’s life, he was a man who served Jesus with love and dedication. I thank Dr Haggai for this vision and I am grateful for being part of the Haggai Seminar in 2002, it was a dream that came true! Thank you, praise God, Alleluia!

Dr. John Haggai and Christine, faithful servants of God, have changed so many lives in this world; one of them is me. I was honored to host several of their visits and his Trustee team in Indonesia in 2002 and the years after in my house and to get a new start in revisioning Haggai Indonesia under PKD Lee’s leadership. What a privilege! They accepted me like Jesus did with the woman who was abandoned by her cultural background. He prayed for me and I could serve a ministry. What grace! I will always be grateful for being part of Haggai International and the Haggai Indonesia ministry. Thanks to Dr. John Haggai who  is now home with Jesus. May we continue his works and be serious about the Last Commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Eagle has risen!  Not only risen, but is now soaring!   That’s the spirit speed of my dear and sweet Uncle John!  He was nothing short of a lightning bolt of energy and focus! Yes, he was fully powered by God!  I am overwhelmed by his quick and complete obedience to God and how that shaped his life and the birth of Haggai International.  He lived each day with unyielding boldness and courage while receiving the divine protection and timely provision that can only come from God!  Yes, a resounding yes, that God is faithful, always and in all ways!  Uncle John’s mission for life was defined by being ‘under fire’.  He was a soldier, a warrior for Christ calling on all to submit with urgency.  His clock was ticking and so were his minutes to build the kingdom of God.  Although Uncle John is now timeless and eternal, the impact of his life on earth will continue to change lives and plant seeds of new beginnings.  Incredible!  And, because of his prayers and prayers from a family of believers, I was ‘surprised by joy’ on the eve of Mother’s Day in 1996.  I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at 36 years of age, yes, a late bloomer but a bloomer, indeed!  At last, I arrived!  Now, 25 years later, I have never looked back and thankful for the new hope I found in Jesus Christ.  I am thankful for the thirst God has given me to understand more about my Uncle John’s ministry and the work God has been doing through him.  I always wondered about what was behind those IMPACT magazines from years ago that would be stacked up in a large decorative basket in my Mother’s bathroom (truth here).  Let it be known that my father, Ted Haggai, was Uncle John’s younger brother and the older brother to Uncle Tom, another phenomenal man who also went home to our precious Lord last March.  I was 21 when my father passed away at the age of 55 in 1980 and remember growing up with his countless expressions of love and admiration for both of his brothers, John and Tom.  He was so proud of his brothers and astonished by their accomplishments and global impact on people from ‘high places’.  Now they are all reunited for eternity!  I am entirely thankful for the examples my Uncles have set for me.  They do not realize how powerful their character, mission and passion for being true ‘Change Agents’ in the world have helped to shape who I am, my purpose and mission in life. Our clock is also ticking and our minutes on earth are only known before God.  Life is not a dress rehearsal!  With each new day our rising ‘Son’ calls for our full attention and devotion to place God’s agenda before our own.  I can say that my Uncles have lived with this ‘modus operandi ‘ and lead by example.  In addition, I must remark how grateful I am to have been able to bring my husband, Scott, alongside me to attend the double women’s session in April of 2015 (now we are both breathless with ‘Impact’!).  Scott was early in his recovery from a kidney removal and I had just launched my business as an Independent Financial Advisor.  Both big stakes!  Perfect timing to attend the training session at the center in Kihei, Maui.  When everything is breaking loose, dive into God’s word and people and He will set our paths straight, every time!  Uncle John was a man who spent his daily life in the ‘deep dive’.  His focus, power, brilliance and inspiration came from every God breathed source, his beloved family, his staff, his leaders and from all places and people both great and small…he absorbed it all to give it meaning, light and ultimately new life before God.  I give him an exponential rating of 10 to the 10th power – Google has no extension for such reviews, only God!  With honor, grace and love, I celebrate Uncle John’s remarkable life of faith with each of you and am armed with great enthusiasm for the present and future Haggai International!  Go Dr. Bev!! Crush gospel poverty!!  Our cloud of witnesses in heaven just took a big leap to include Uncle John!  For such a time as this, may we all remain encouraged and inspired by Uncle John’s life and story to change lives under God and with great love to heal our earth and expand the Kingdom one soul at a time.  On behalf of my husband, children, sisters and extended family, we all celebrate the magnificence of this man, fueled by his God given remarkable wife, son and heavenly care team, Gladys and family.  May the life and impact of Dr. John Edmund Haggai remain alive and active in our hearts forever.

Dr Haggai you were a great inspiration to me. In 2006 I attended the training in Hawaii and from then my life as a minister was transformed. I launched ministry the same year and started training leaders as the core mandate. I didn’t end there, I was called to train as a faculty member. Through this I was able to reach many leaders from different continents. You impacted us so we could impact. We are grateful for you walk of faith.

Dr. John Edmund Haggai will always be a name living in my memory as he was responsible for sponsoring my leadership training in Kihei, East Lipoa, Maui, Hawaii, USA way back April to May, 2010 together with other gentlemen coming from all over the world. Dr. Haggai always had a positive and a warm, friendly approach to all Christian men of numerous denominations including Roman Catholics. It was a pity that I could not meet him directly in person in Maui as a video conference from Atlanta, Georgia was the only possible way at that time to interact with him. (He had to be with his wife, Christine, who was at that time suffering from Alzheimers.) But I did remember his remarks when he wanted to meet “The Professor from the Philippines” from the group which was yours truly and asked me how I was. It was a very touching moment really because it appeared like a Grandfather was casually asking how I was and how I was doing in the course so far. In fact, I remember during that conversation, he even asked me, “How do you feel now that you are among many Protestants?”. And I immediately answered, “It makes no difference Dr. Haggai, Sir. I have made many friends with them.” We both laughed after my reply. I realized that Dr. Haggai just wanted me to feel relaxed, at home, and at ease since the entire course was going to last a full 25 day period. I take this opportunity once again to thank Dr. Haggai for making it possible for me to open my eyes, heart, and mind about Christianity and the Christian World as a whole. Dr. Haggai also made me understand the spirit and wisdom of Ecumenism and Interfaith Dialogue. Thank you very much Dr. John Edmund Haggai! Rest well in the hands of the Lord!

This describes my time with John, knowing him during my time living in Atlanta.

The mark this great man of God has left will endure for ever.

John Haggai was my beloved brother-in-law. After my husband passed away, John called me every evening to ask if I’d had a good day … and to wish me a good evening.. I asked about his day and he always replied …”sensational!”

He always ended his call with the words … “remember … I love you.” and told him I loved him as well..

He will be missed more than I can imagine.. He was a powerful servant of God.

I had the awesome privilege of working in the Brisbane office as Administrator in the 1980’s. Knowing this exceptional man of God changed my life forever. He was bold for Jesus and never flinched to talk about money. His style and presentation of Mission, I believe is unmatched in this world. And yes even in the face of criticism, he was relentless in getting the Gospel out through Nationals. This way of Mission, I believe (with all my heart), is the most powerful method of evangelising.
And so now this precious man, Dr John Edmund Haggai is resting from his labours.
May his memory and work go on in strength until Jesus appears on earth bringing Dr John with Him.

I have been blessed by Dr. John E. Haggai’s leadership experience in Marui since 2015 up to now. These two weeks of praying to know God’s will out of four weeks training made me see my life purpose and heard God’s calling for his kingdom. I was trained in Singapore in January, 2007. What challenges me more about your story is how you sold your only family property to use the amount raised to sponsor your very first seminar! This inspires me the most. During one of the lectures we watched you on screen telling us your personal life and vision. This captivated my emotions.

What a glorious exit! An exit that has left many armed to bear the Master’s armor that all knees may bow to the Lordship of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Indeed triumphant marks have been left in the sand of time to lead us on. Now the baton passed to the next generation must not drop. I am one of the many lives that the vision and ministry of this Great God’s General has transformed. Like many others, I am a life that was changed. Thank you Lord for lending Dr. Edmund Haggai to this world. The loan period is over now and the benefits and fruits that accrue bear witness that Dr. Haggai finished well. When I was a student, I had read “How to Win over Worry” in my language. After nearly 20 years, I attended Haggai International session and came to know that YOU were the author of the book.

You and Christine have influenced and supported us as parents of a special need children. As a mother of a special needs son, your book “My Son Johnney” has always reminded me of God’s profound purpose and renewed my passion for His Kingdom. Thank you so much. How I thank the Lord for Dr. John Haggai. Years ago when he visited Brisbane Australia I would always try and have breakfast with him at the Park Royal Hotel where he used to stay. An hour with him left me exhausted! He had such a sharp mind. The wisdom and advice he shared with me helped me so much as I launched into full time proclamation evangelism. I will always be grateful to him.

Dr. John Edmund Haggai was the most influential human being in my life. Period. My life can be divided into before my Haggai experience and after it.
Having interacted several times with Dr. Haggai, I saw in him the ideal qualities of a leader. He was a prophet who had a godly vision, a king who was able to set plans that were executed successfully and in all of this he did with the heart of loving a priest.
The last time I met Dr. Haggai was in Sept 2004, is still absolutely fresh in my memory.
I met him at his home in Atlanta and that’s when I realized this extraordinary leader was an unbelievably down to earth person. When I arrived I was greeted by Christine, who was tidying up their garage with a broom. It was a normal home.
I then spent around half an hour in Dr. Haggai’s basement office enjoying his company and his incomparable wisdom.
Those are the images of this wonderful couple I will carry in my heart.
Even as he talked to me, I always felt he was genuinely desiring me to aspire and achieve new heights. This single minded focus of replicating himself in others was so obvious to me.
He is today in a better place in much better company.

Reflection On Our Love Ones Who’s Gone Before

Our great leader, Dr. John Edmund Haggai, along with many other leaders, had worked so hard with the determination of making sure that people from all over the world must have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They have gone Home ahead to Rest in Peace.
On November 18th 2020, his time has come for our beloved Leader Dr. John Edmund Haggai.
His remarkable 75 years of ministry gives birth to 123,000 Haggai leaders in 189 nations. We can imagine much more number could be added, if we are to add these leaders as they come back home to train others.
As one saying goes “a tree today, a forest tomorrow,” one good tree can be multiplied and eventually can become a beautiful forest.
Let’s continue join hands in sowing the seed of Gospel message. Although we are in different countries with diverse traditions and cultures, let us look at as a whole, the sheaves of harvest of souls that we bringing in. Indeed, it is so beautiful.
So . . . cheer up. Let’s go on!

Even after his passing, Dr. Haggai’s legacy will continue on through the lives of all the leaders he impacted with his life and ministry!

A great man of God who was a visionary and enabled Leaders to be trained in the third world countries with the Gospel. I thank God for his life & service.

I may not have encountered him face to face but I enjoyed our video chat with him as a participant when I was privileged to attend the institute in April 2017 in Maui. He spoke to us about ministry, God’s calling, his work and how he intended to keep working until the day he passes from here to eternity. He spoke to us concerning family too- how we must carry our family along in this work. I was tremendously blessed by that session. I saw a man who defied age and stayed passionate. It fueled the fire in me and I determined more to keep up with making Jesus known especially among the younger generation to which I have been commissioned.
Thank you sir for answering the call; for obeying the vision and keeping the passion for souls till the end. Above all, thank you for loving the Lord the way you did. It is very exemplary. There is surely coming a final ‘Thank you’ from the one who you loved dearly and who you obeyed.

I was very much blessed through his ministry. One of the biggest breakthrough took place in my life when I attended HLE in May 2019.

I attended the HI training in May 2011 , this was the first time I met Dr. Haggai over the video call . That was an unforgettable day , he answered questions asked by all of us in the training.

I got fired up to imbibe the Haggai Institute’s concept of the “How” of spreading the gospel message after my training at the training centre at Hawaii in 1996. It was a great privilege to see how people sacrificed to get me there and to know the urgency of spreading the gospel to EVERY community on earth. Thank you, Dr. Haggai. I praise the name of God that God had changed my life and my ministry totally through Haggai International. It was my second repentance in 1995. I praise God as well to see Dr. Haggai’s life and ministry. He encouraged me strongly to spread the Gospel as soon as possible. Dr. Haggai said it personally to me when he visited Maui Coast Hotel twenty five years ago during our session 228 and 229. It was the last venue Haggai International used the out-side place.
I was glad to be the one of the eye-witnesses of the Mid Pacific Center on May 1995. I can see God’s work in Haggai International until now and also the impact globally. I will continue this mission to every leader that I meet.

The name of our Lord Savior had been glorified through the life of Dr. Haggai. He finishes well as he enters God’s glory.

As an almost 50 year pastor and former seminary professor and provost, I never met anyone more in touch with world evangelization than Dr. Haggai. Having had the privilege of teaching for him in Singapore in 1986, I have seen firsthand the impact of Haggai Institute. There is no mission organization in the world that is their equal. God be praised for a man who, to paraphrase John’s own words, “Set out to do something so great for God that succeeded so powerfully because God was in it and in John Edmund Haggai.” What a man for the Gospel!

*A Short Tribute to the Man with Burning Passion for the Gospel*

“Then I heard a voice from heaven say, ‘Write this: *Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on* .’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.'” (Rev. 14:13)

There is no better tribute to the Great man of God and Vision Bearer of Haggai International, Dr. John Edmund Haggai, than the above scriptural passage.

Dr Haggai attempted great things for God and positively inspired, equipped and impacted his generation with the Kingdom and Gospel consciousness. God gave him a vision and he vigorously pursued that vision till death. It is only God that can explain the fiery compassionate heart with which he passionately dispensed the word of God. His voice was so thunderous as he preached from conviction. He was a man of faith, eloquent, exegetical and apologetic. His goal was to End Gospel Poverty, and that vision every Haggai Leader must pursue. He has joined the Church triumphant and the cloud of witnesses. Indeed, Blessed is the death of the righteous as he goes home to rest from his labours.

I have clear memories when Dr. John Edmund Haggai was visited Chile in 2013. But greater brand produced in me having participated in the Advance Training Leadership in Maui in 2009, however do not imagine that my peers would honor me to preside over Haggai International Chile since 2017 and I exceed my expectations in being able to travel to Bali, Indonesia with my wife and be able to represent my country and celebrate the 50 years in 2019 , along with more than 600 leaders from 69 countries. It is great ministry with a mantle of special blessing.

We have inherited a great Vision and Mission for the next 50 years and although this ministry bears the surname of his founder it is totally Christocentric, focused on two fundamental pillars that are Leadership and Evangelism and does not exist without each other.

I am sincerely honored to share with colleagues and brothers and to be able to tell you that Haggai is my ministry. Thank you very much for this opportunity.

Dr John Edmund Haggai – A true Hero of the Faith who had partnered and furthered the Kingdom of God in a revolutionary way. His vision of evangelism is unique and have touched millions of hearts to conversion for Christ. A man who had not wavered in his vision until a ripe old age. Always remembered for his steadfastness and valour in the faith. You fought a good fight and finished the race set before you. Rest in Peace.

The year 2020 stands out remarkably as a year that witnessed the glorious homeward journey of some great Christian world transformers including, Morris Cerullo, Ravi Zacharia, and now our great Haggai Institute founder Dr John Edmund Haggai. We celebrate the life and ministry of this “General of God, mentor, model and legacy builder”, who influenced great Christian leaders across the world. By God’s grace, I happen to be one of them. My life and ministry today have been greatly influenced by the Haggai Institute training I received in 1998 and the 12 years I served as pioneer director of Haggai Institute for French-speaking Africa. We pray that the legacy of “lives saved, books written, training centers created and especially leaders empowered” through the Haggai institute will continue to vibrate through several generations and into eternity.

My International Leadership experience was in Maui – Hawaii, Session 818: January 13 – February 6 – 2009. It was a tremendous experience, in addition to the teachings, to see the focus on Jesus Christ and evangelism! In turn, that same year 2009, meeting Dr. John Edmund Haggai in the Atlanta offices and being able to talk with him was a gift from God. In turn, I was invited to speak at the Global Summit of the Haggai Institute in Atlanta -GA, in February 2016, where for much longer, together with my husband Guillermo, we were able to share several moments of dialogue and reflection with Dr. John Edmund Haggai and Dr. Beverly Upton Williams, in turn share with the entire staff of the Haggai Institute! I have known Dr. Haggai for over 50 years. He was like a second father to me. In 1978, Dr. Haggai offered the eulogy at the funeral of my Dad, Cecil B. Day. Dad died at the age of 44. I was 17. Dr. Haggai was describing Dad as a man of great faith. He then quoted Hebrews 11:4: “By faith he still speaks even though he is dead.”, the text that speaks of Abels faith and legacy. Today, Dr. Haggai still speaks even though he is no longer physically present. The wisdom that he offered over these last 50 years is worth sharing. We are all familiar with his famous quote, “Attempt something so great for God that it is doomed to failure unless God be in it.” Here are a few of the other Dr. Haggai quotes that you may find inspiring…

We were from about 34 countries from all over the world. The cultural diversity, the skin colours, different nationalities were deftly woven together by the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus through His indomitable servant, Dr Edmund Haggai.

There are no words to describe the impact of Dr John Haggai. The greatest tribute is the ongoing one, of the thousands of leaders especially in the Non-Western world, whom he loved dearly, respected and believed in, whose thinking and practice he changed for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Having known him personally since 1975 and being associated with HI since then, it is impossible to measure the sense of loss. Though a giant is gone to the other side, he still speaks and his works do follow him. I am so grateful for his life and legacy and the way it touched me and my ministry.

I thank God for Dr. John Edmund Haggai, for his obedience and faithfulness in fulfilling God’s calling upon his life. The news of Dr John Edmund Haggai’s departure for eternity makes us sad. However, we bow to the sovereign will of the Creator God who fixes the time of each of us. His many works follow him (Revelation 14.13).

Dr. John Edmund Haggai demonstrated his love for God and “walked the talk” of the Great Commission with great passion for the Lord Jesus Christ, perseverance in his calling and is now enjoying his promotion to eternal glory. He role-modeled how a spiritual marathon race should be run to both men and women after God’s heart. I am personally thankful to God and Haggai International for giving me an opportunity to meet this great man of faith with a huge kingdom vision during the 50th Global Summit Celebration in Atlanta, in 2019. I was a recipient of his wit and humour in just a short meeting. I felt embraced by Dr. Haggai’s love as soon as I met him. Dr. John Haggai was like an uncle to me. Growing up, he was a constant presence in the life of our family. He and my dad were best friends when students at Moody Bible Institute and have remained close through the years. They even talked last week on the phone! Growing up, Dr. Haggai would often visit our home, and we his. When I was a student in other countries, he would always find a way visit me there. When I was a pastor, i had him preach in the churches I pastored. Some knew him as a great international leader, evangelist and mobilizer of people for the cause of Christ. My wife Kitty and I received the news of JEH’s passing with sadness and strangely enough with joy as well. While we loss a giant of the Christian faith, I am convinced the heavenly hosts are throwing a huge party in welcoming JEH home!

His passing is not only a loss to the worldwide Christian community, the land of China has lost a true friend and a compassionate, selfless champion co-labourer of the Church.

His well-known and well-loved statement “Attempt something so great for God that unless God is in it, it is doomed to failure” bears testimony to the character and integrity of the man. He was a trailblazer, a pioneer, a champion and a visionary in his singlemindedness toward his calling. He dared to go where angels fear to tread because he was a man of prayer and a man of obedience to his Lord’s command.

My wife and I can’t think of a better way to honour and to thank him for his legacy and leadership than to continue ministering in the great land of China. JEH through his love for the people of China opened the door for Edward to serve in that land and even in the post-Haggai ministry era, Edward is still actively involved in this ministry.

JEH ran his race with compassion. dedication, dignity, singlemindedness and courage – and he finished his course. Like David of old, when JEH had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep….(Acts 13:36).

I was not privileged to meet Evangelist and Father in the Lord, John Edmund Haggai, in person but I had an encounter through his ministry. I was in the Session 827; April 21 to May 15, 2009 group on Advanced Leadership Training, sponsored by Mrs. Jeanne Lambdin at Maui. Hawaii. US.

John Edmund Haggai interacted with our Class from Atlanta on teleconference platform and very powerfully. He appealed to us that he could not travel as before and blessed us.

His death remind us that no matter how great we are on earth for the Lord, if Jesus tarries, we will have to die to transit to eternity, pending rapture.

Haggai Institute encounter for me was a divine withdrawal from circulation to behold the face of the Lord, understand His purpose for my life and deepen my knowledge in leadership and open the heaven on my life for a new beginning. May the Lord be glorified eternally for the vision and the ministry of our Father in the Lord, John Edmund Haggai.

I pray that we finish well and strong to join him and others at the feet of Christ.

When I think of John Edmund Haggai, in a very natural way my heart just cannot stop thanking our living God. He has lived a life of integrity & every aspect of his life glorifies our living God. What he has accomplished is huge & will reach its full measure in due time. He has been a major contributor to eradicate gospel poverty, and will continue to remain a source of inspiration to many. We pray that the seeds he has sown will yield abundant harvest.

I was privileged to hear Dr. John Edmund Haggai speak on only two occasions. The first was at a meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention, the second was during a meeting of Australian Baptists in Sydney. where he delighted and astounded ministers from throughout the nation.

John Edmund Haggai was an erudite minister of our LORD’s Truth, and his genius is revealed in the organization and development of the Haggai International Ministry. Many years subsequent to our meeting in Australia, we corresponded, and he generously forwarded several of his books that enriched my library. He was indeed both a generous and unassuming gentleman. He will be missed here, but Heaven itself will be richer for his presence.

I am so greatful for the influence of Rev Haggai on my dear friend Dr Michael Youssef as Dr Youssef worked with Haggai International and was encouraged by Dr Haggai at that time, and ever since, a relationship that seems to have lasted until he passed on. The cross denominational ministry of Leading The Way probably has roots in Haggai International.

I thank God for giving us the life of John Edmund Haggai to influence me and so many people around the world and blessed me with the precious knowledge and training that I can do much more things than i ever believed in myself for God and my people.

The once in a lifetime opportunity to be trained for market place evangelism was just phenomenal. This vision and strategy by Dr Haggai has the greatest reach. I thank God daily for this visionary and even in his death, this reach will continue to be exponential. Dr Haggai’s humility was always the greatest asset in the organisation.

Dr. John Edmund Haggai was a brilliant, compassionate, gracious, and loving extraordinary leader. I had the opportunity of interviewing him at his office in Norcross, Georgia. When we arrived at the meeting, he amazed us in many ways. He had our name on a special screen; his staff was so kind. Dr. Haggai greeted me with so much fatherly love. He was hospitable and interested in our organization, in reaching out to younger leaders. He generously shared ideas, books, and reflections on leadership. Discussing with him makes you feel like you are talking to someone who loves you and truly wants you to succeed. After this amazing encounter, he personally wrote and brought me into his circle of friends that received his monthly Notes – what a leadership treasure! Dr. Haggai was a leader who wanted to help others succeed and fulfill their GOD given dreams. Our African Pastors Network gave him an Africa Love Award. He was a man who loved GOD and lived a lifestyle that demonstrated his love for GOD in his approach to life and global relationships. Dr. Haggai lived well, loved much, and served much.

though I don’t personally know him but I am a recipient of his vision. Thank you very much Dr. Haggai. You have lived your life according to His purpose…to God be the glory!

An opportunity of a lifetime…

A life changing moment and change of perspective about true evangelism. It is sad that I could not have an opportunity to meet with this man of God who in my language was a visionary in evangelism, a fervent servant leader, a profound teacher, a prolific writer and a great influencer of people through God’s perfect love. His unconditional love, care and concern for winning souls for God’s kingdom was relentless. It was a life changing experience during my visit to Maui in 2019 when I went to attend the Haggai Leader Experience. I have no words to express the gratitude for Dr. Haggai and his team for their selfless efforts in making the program possible and more than the preparations and the hospitality, it was the content of the training that was so overwhelming, intense and but yet intriguingly so interesting that one could not even ponder away for a second that he would lose something so precious.

In all this, what I could see was this noble, wise and grounded in the word of God, Dr. John Edmund Haggai’s many years of sweat and sincere hard work to groom more than a 120000 active leaders across the globe.

My heart swelled with agony of this great loss, but rejoiced with the angels in heaven for the legacy he left behind for me to personally take forward and continue to be an influencer of God’s perfect love. A loud and great THANK YOU to Dr. Haggai for his selfless service that has made millions a better person to be.

It was of great honour and a blessing to have been accepted for a leadership training at Singapore in the 183, 184 sessions. A magistrate I took a step, trained for leadership, which encouraged me to do a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in Christian Education at African Bible College. That starting point at HI marked my turning for Christ. Since then I’ve been for Christ’s service in my home, church, schools, community, and everywhere. Glory be to God for the work well done by Dr. Haggai.

Dr. John Haggai’s vision of investing in training Christian leaders around the world to invest in other new leaders in their countries has shown us how strategic he was. I was greatly blessed by this vision when I was privileged to participate in HLE in Maui in 2016. My ministry in the local Church and in other fields has never been the same. Despite not having met him personally, I feel part of his family, a family now spread across the five continents that will continue his legacy. I will be forever grateful to the Most High for the life of John Haggai.

I never met Dr haggai in person.
But i read for him and watched many videos and heard from many about him. I felt his fatherhood when i joined haggai int. He was a big encouragment and his words was the power for our engins to turn in serving the mission.. I my eyes he is a strong man of God and a faithful servant till the end. Becoming a member of the Haggai family has been a true blessing in my life. And what a joy to have had the opportunity of meeting Dr. Haggai himself. What an infectious zeal and passion for the Lord and for souls! Being a facilitator for Stewardship and having to digest Dr. Haggai’s teaching on that subject has had a profound impact on my Christian journey. What a privilege to have had John in my life….he will be sorely missed!

Thanks to my parents’ involvement in Haggai Institute over the years, and their personal friendship with John Haggai, my husband and children and I were privileged to be part of his birthday greetings ministry. Each year on our birthdays we would each receive a very special letter. The words would vary, but the effect was always the same – personal affirmation and encouragement, a reminder of being a child of God and all the blessings (and responsibilities) that entailed, and a refocusing on Jesus and the truth of the gospel message of God’s love. His birthday letters were refreshing, like a cold drink on a hot day. They brought a cheerfulness, purpose and energy that was always welcomed and needed. And they were always signed “Heartily”, which was how he did life, heartily, definitely living out the instructions in Colossians: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” A giant personality and man for God has moved on ahead and will be missed, but we will do our best to continue our work here heartily for the Lord, until we meet again!

A man lived and trod this earth, making many mighty as he did so. Thank God Dr Haggai responded to the call on his life. I am a living testimony. I celebrate this mega-mentor. Your legacy lives on.

I may not have met you personally, but your ministry challenged me to take sharing the gospel seriously with peopkeas it is the hope for them. May God continue to use this ministry to reach more and more people with the Good News that Jesus Saves!

I first heard Dr. John Haggai preach at the large, stately Peachtree Christian Church in downtown Atlanta when our pastor, Rev. Jim Collins, was traveling in Israel. Having a heart for missions, I knew his directive “don’t save up for Heaven, spend it on Earth!” was a strict admonition to many laying up “storehouses of treasures” on Earth. I shifted my company E-Learning Experts that year due to the large International Conference and each January, was so honored to sit with Rev. Jim Collins as we heard so many leaders from around the world and their testimonies of training leaders for Christ. We sent dozens of Dr. Collins’ book on Christian marriage, which I had carefully edited, to Indonesia and Christians around the world. I continue to serve and empower Christian ministers in India and Kenya, my “sons of thunder”, and despite their persecutions, they remain strong testaments to power of the Gospel and “Great Commission” we are all commissioned to enact during our short time on Earth. I pray to be a vessel like my mentors, and remember Dr. Haggai’s insight when he was in Switzerland: empower those around the world with the exponential factor and Christ’s light WILL shine!

Dr. John Edmund Haggai’s illustrious life was a reflection of 2 Timothy 4:7-8 :

“7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (NIV)

I met Dr. Haggai first in 1978 and then 1979. The program he created Haggai Institute, turned my life over. Before I met him I was running in many directions trying to serve the Lord, but after the training got focus and did disciplined work. Had the privilege of working with DR. Haggai from 1989 for twenty years. Have found him to be a person who is totally committed to people. He trusted people and empowered people to grow and fill bigger shoes. An absolutely amazing person in his ability to trust and build people. A true servant leader, with great humility.

Listening to him while having dinner in Bali Indonesia & Manila during international conventions gave me a glimpse of heaven just being by the side of God’s anointed. Hearing his simple but challenging messages and reading his books gave me a clear understanding and direction to where I should suppose to be when it comes to the mission field. How I miss this man of God so dearly. He must have a good time with God our Father in heaven for all eternity for all the good works God has begun and completed in the life of John Edmund Haggai, also a sinner saved by grace and used by Him tremendously in all the world we could never have imagined the impact of his works. “Thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord Dr. John Edmund Haggai. Till’ we meet again in that blissful shore in the presence of our glorious God”. “

I am very grateful to the Lord for the life and sincere dedication of Dr John Haggai. I have attended Haggai Institute Leadership Training in Singapore way back in 1992. That was the year before the Lord called me to be a missionary pastor in the UAE. The training that I had in Singapore was very instrumental in steadying my journey for many years. The journey has been very fruitful. The determination and commitment of Dr Haggai to train Christian leaders for the Kingdom of God inspired me to do the same. He surely will be missed but the fruit of his labour has now been planted in many parts of the world.

I would like to honor and pay tribute the man who have inspired so many of us to attempt greater things for Jesus! How I wish and pray I can make an impact on my mission field in the same way he did. Thank you eternally for the privilege, the opportunity, and the inspiration Dr. Haggai!

One of God’s generals has gone home. I never met him, haven’t come to Haggi but through his work and ministry, my Christian work was challenged afresh. My father came to Haggi in Singapore and because he wasn’t internet savvy, my email became his contact. I got to read most of the enriching articles and it encouraged and enriched my life. I cannot forgot the series about his son.

Dr. John was a very confident and caring man, with a vision to evangelize the world. He was a friend and mentor to me. He taught me to find God’s purpose for my life. I enjoyed teaching at the Haggai Institute for 6 years and met majority world leaders from some 80 countries. That experience broadened my perspective on the church and its mission in the world. God bless the Haggai Institute which continues to train leaders for the majority world.

When I was in high school, my dad said to me after reading an article on John, “keep your eye on this man. He is a man who will be wise for you to follow and emulate.”

Over the years I did just that. John has become a significant man to follow and support.

I vividly remember the first visit of DrHaggai’s Team to Uganda in 1987. I was in my first year as Director of Research in the Bank of Uganda ( Uganda’s Central Bank) and economic adviser to the Minister of Finance.. His team organized a special evangelical meeting with key officials engaged in restoring the economy of Uganda that had been devastated by fifteen years of war and mismanagement (1971-1986). Dr. Haggai brought a refreshing and powerful message of vision, commitment and direction. Where there was despair he brought confidence. Where there was gloom he promised achievement through systematic management.
We continued listening to the team for several days at State House. I still remember his final word at State House: “direction”. He said the most important message to us was that we have the correct “direction.”
They gave us amazing literature which I read with unusual hunger. They were the best and uniquely relevant books for our devastated economic times.
In 1995 I had the opportunity to join two Ugandan bishops to the Haggai Institute in Hawaii. Despite the very long journey from Uganda to Hawaii, we dived into the training program with full inspiration and enthusiasm. I still remember Dr Haggai’s challenge about “calling for a verdict!” I had no idea what he was talking about at the time! It was much later that I understood he was talking about making an “altar call.” There were many memorable moments and lessons like “teaching an old dog new tricks” and the monkey’s ass being exposed the higher up it went on the tree: the more important you become the more exposed is your integrity or lack thereof.
I have no doubt his unique evangelism impacted millions for good. He brought the gospel to the nations and expounded it in a way that truly glorified God. He glorified God. I am sure God will say to him: well done good and faithful servant. May his soul rest in eternal glory. Sincerely,

Let me tell you of part of the story of how “How to Win Over Worry” remained in print for so long.

I am so grateful for the ministry of Dr. Haggai. A warm, passionate, and visionary leader, committed to the spread of the Gospel worldwide as few have ever been, Dr. Haggai was a good friend of both my father and myself.

His friendship with my dad, Bob Hawkins, Sr., began when Dr. Haggai heard of an amazing purchase my father made, back in the 1960’s, when he owned a Christian bookstore in Portland, Oregon. Hearing that Zondervan was about to let How to Win Over Worry go out of print, my dad bought an amazing 500 copies–because he loved the book and wanted it to remain in print. Dr. Haggai somehow received word of this, and remembered it, just as he seemed to recall everything!

Years later, in the 1980’s, Dr. Haggai made sure Harvest House Publishers eventually became the publisher of this book at a point when it was once again, I believe, ready to go out of print.
And for the next three plus decades, Harvest House kept the message of this book alive in markets everywhere.

I am grateful for the love of Christ and His message inherent in this high-energy, man of God. He made me laugh, and hard, loved the power of the quote, and gave his life to sharing Christ. We are proud to have been his publisher for many books, and enriched because we knew him. He will be sorely missed. But today we celebrate his graduation to be with the Lord forever!

My one month stay in 2008 in Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership Seminar Training in Singapore was one of the most memorable, uplifting, focused and productive in terms of my evangelistic and ministerial training, equipping and mentoring. In fact, even up to now, some of the materials (along with experiences and exposures) are still relevant and significant (especially the spirit intent, not just the “letters”) and I’m using them in my teaching and sharing ministry. Secondary to scholarly brilliancy of Dr. John Edmund Haggai, what I admired and appreciated him the most was his indefatigable commitment, character, charisma, integrity and Christ-like personality. His formidable dedication and devotion to our dear Savior & Master Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Son of Man. could be compared to that of apostolic faith and the pioneering Church Fathers in Church history.. A lost in earth is a gain in heaven. Dr. Haggai left us a great legacy that we Christians (esp. Haggai graduates/disciples) can be humbly proud of and an sterling example to emulate in our service to our Divine Savior & Master Jesus Christ. Here in VICTORIA,!AUSTRALIA Pastor Russell Hooper, the Senior Pastor of Christian Life Centre, also sadly died on Friday 13th November 2020. He was aged 88years rejoicing in Glory now.

Dr Haggai joined him five days later!

These two men, dynamic Leaders of Churches and both men of vision and men of the Word and men of integrity.

Even though I didn’t met Haggai physically, but I met with people transformed by the Haggai international, JB Mugarura is the one who pioneered YFC/Rwanda, I joined them in 2009, in their program of SLD (School of Leadership and Discipleship), he doesn’t seased to say how Haggai institute has changed his Life, so I am serving in YFC as a ministry Coordinator in Northern Chapter, I am pleased that Haggai institute Rwanda, has organized a local sessions, it shaped my thinking about Evangelism, and I am more than read to end the Gospel Poverty!

I am beyond grateful for Dr. Haggai’s radical vision, obedience and faith in our great God! His impact for the Great Commission is clear globally and to me personally. In 1998 I was invited to visit one of the Haggai SLS trainings in Singapore to observe what had been happening. In the 10 days that I was there my life was completely changed! One cannot go there to simply “observe”. God opened my eyes and my heart towards a journey of surrender and obedience to the call of the Great Commission.

In the subsequent years I had many opportunities to visit Dr. Haggai in Atlanta. I am blessed and humbled that in every encounter, no matter how brief, Dr. Haggai continued to amaze, inspire and energize my journey.

More than ever we need to focus on the urgency of ending Gospel poverty.

On behalf of the Haggai Australia Board, we celebrate the life of Dr. John Edmund Haggai.

God is looking for people willing to be used by Him. Dr. Haggai stood in the gap and said, “Here I am, send me.” His legacy is to prepare, equip and ship. God allow all alumni to remain firm in our commitment to respond positively to the calls of our Lord Jesus.

I am very grateful to God for the life of Dr. John E. Haggai, not only for the vision he received from the Lord, but for sharing it with his generation.

Just as David, ‘having served the purpose of God in his generation, fell asleep’ (Acts.13; 36), John E. Haggai also falls asleep, fulfilling our Lord’s divine purpose.

His vision remains alive in the hearts of those who have been privileged to receive from him what the Lord has given him.

A LIFE, AN INSPIRATION, AN EXAMPLE, A LEGACY

The corporate world lost yesterday morning, 11/18, one of its great leaders and influencers, whose impact only Eternity can reveal in all its infinite extent: DR. JOHN HAGGAI.

John Edmund Haggai was born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1929, the eldest son of Syrian immigrants from New England, Mass., whose ancestors settled in the USA in the 1600s.

While attending Moody Bible School, he met Christine Barker, who would become the mainstay of her life and ministry since 1961. Mrs. Haggai moved in with Jesus in 2019, a week after celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary.

Dr. Haggai’s passion for Jesus Christ and His Gospel shaped his life. He stubbornly pursued the goal that everyone should have the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a “meaningful and culturally compatible way.”

On a visit to Asia in the early 1960s, he became convinced that changes in global geopolitics due to the end of colonialism, required new strategies for communicating the Gospel.

With an entrepreneurial vision, he dedicated years to detailed research, precise studies, and much prayer, which culminated in 1969, with the first Advanced Leadership Seminar, to train nationals to reach their own people, including in the marketplace.

This innovative and unprecedented proposal contradicted the whole methodology of sharing the Christian faith that had been put into practice until then, based on sending foreign missionaries around the world, barely knowing the culture, the language, the customs of the peoples where they were going. His project was labeled “madness that will never work”.

But he had a motto in which he firmly believed: “Attempt something so great for God it’s doomed to failure unless God is in it.”

And GOD was in it! The impact of the HAGGAI INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE with more than 123,000 trained leaders, men, and women from all over the world, in 189 nations, particularly in the poorest and least developed countries, and also acting in the “marketplace”, is unimaginable.

I had the honor and privilege of being one of them in 2002, in an intensive program of almost a month, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, 9, 10, 11, 12:00 pm, which inspired participants from India, Nigeria, Myanmar, Bolivia, Kenya, South Africa, Argentina, Jamaica, and different Brazilian cities, like Campinas, Cuiabá, Belo Horizonte, Rio e Sao Paulo.

On that occasion, Dr. John Haggai addressed us a lecture on the topic: “The Tragedy of Unfinishing”. It was a deep impact on me, once it is one of the areas of my life that I have always struggled with.

When I arrived in Brazil, I wrote an article with this theme for the weekly CBMC review, Monday Manna, and I referred to him as “a young man of 85 years”. I sent the article to him, and he kindly asked his assistant to correct me, because he was just an “84-year-old young man”.

He lived intensely. He was in a hurry. Or rather: he could not waste time. He had caught the brevity meaning of life. He used to say: “I want to die the way I live: FAST!”. It seems God answered his prayer!

A bright mind, strong and powerful voice, clear convictions, contagious enthusiasm, infinite generosity, non-negotiable principle values, Dr. Haggai was a true servant leader, inspiring powerfully by his example.

Among the great legacy he left behind, among several relevant books, there is one that I consider indispensable for any leader, “Lead on”. I prefer the Portuguese title, “Be a Leader of Truth – leadership that remains for a changing world” (Editora Betânia).

His impacting leadership will remain with us. The world continues to change. May the generous seeds planted by Dr. John Haggai continue, through all his disciples, to flourish permanently and abundantly.

I first encountered Dr. Haggai in 1957 through the numerous unique and public promotions of his Bible conferences that were held at the 9th and O Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. For a variety of reasons I was prevented from attending his large and popular conferences. I believe at that time he was a Southern Baptist Pastor with a large following and I was not of that persuasion. After he was called into World Evangelization mission work I lost track of him but I never forgot his wonderful reputation as a great teacher of the Gospel , and superb communicator. I had hoped that someday our paths would cross again and i could hear him preach. Many years later after establishing a business in the health care field and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, my wife and I traveled to the Training Center in Hawaii to learn more about the work of the international ministry . I had no idea at the time that the founder of the Christian Center was the same John Haggai from Kentucky. Skip ahead a number of years and I had retired from my business interests and joined the church staff in Atlanta , GA .
. I was serving as the Pastor of Stewardship and learned that a certain Dr. John Haggai had given our church it’s church motto… “attempt something so great for God that it is doomed to failure less God be in it”… (It couldn’t be , could it?) It was a splendid gift to our church and during the past 42 years we have followed this wisdom. During our churches capital campaign my day finally came because our Stewardship Sunday was Dr. Haggai, our guest speaker, and he preached to a packed house giving me the opportunity to hear the message not once but two times. Later that month I had the pleasure of having a private lunch during which we got caught up on the past 53 years of the international ministry that was the Haggai Institute. We became Haggai Institute supporters. In the years that have followed he has always been generous to me with his time and godly counsel. i will never forget Dr. John Haggai and the Christ he followed and shared around the globe. Thanks for this opportunity to share my memories with you.

The Eagle has risen!  Not only risen, but is now soaring!   That’s the spirit speed of my dear and sweet Uncle John!  He was nothing short of a lightning bolt of energy and focus! Yes, he was fully powered by God!  I am overwhelmed by his quick and complete obedience to God and how that shaped his life and the birth of Haggai International.  He lived each day with unyielding boldness and courage while receiving the divine protection and timely provision that can only come from God!  Yes, a resounding yes, that God is faithful, always and in all ways!  Uncle John’s mission for life was defined by being ‘under fire’.  He was a soldier, a warrior for Christ calling on all to submit with urgency.  His clock was ticking and so were his minutes to build the kingdom of God.  Although Uncle John is now timeless and eternal, the impact of his life on earth will continue to change lives and plant seeds of new beginnings.  Amazing!  And, because of his prayers and prayers from a family of believers, I was ‘surprised by joy’ on the eve of Mother’s Day in 1996.  I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at 36 years of age, yes, a late bloomer but a bloomer, indeed!  At last, I arrived!  Now, 25 years later, I have never looked back and thankful for the new hope I found in Jesus Christ.  I am thankful for the thirst God has given me to understand more about my Uncle John’s ministry and the work God has been doing through him.  I always wondered about what was behind those IMPACT magazines from years ago that would be stacked up in a large decorative basket in my Mother’s bathroom (truth here).  Let it be known that my father, Ted Haggai, was Uncle John’s younger brother and the older brother to Uncle Tom (another phenomenal man who, by the grace of God, is still alive today!).  I was 21 when my father passed away at the age of 55 in 1980 and remember growing up with his countless expressions of love and admiration for both of his brothers, John and Tom.  He was so proud of his brothers and astonished by their accomplishments and global impact on people from ‘high places’.  I am entirely thankful for the examples my Uncles have set for me.  They do not realize how powerful their character, mission and passion for being true ‘Change Agents’ in the world have helped to shape who I am, my purpose and mission in life. Our clock is also ticking and our minutes on earth are only known before God.  Life is not a dress rehearsal!  With each new day our rising ‘Son’ calls for our full attention and devotion to place God’s agenda before our own.  I can say that my Uncles have lived with this ‘modus operandi ‘ and lead by example.  In addition, I must remark how grateful I am to have been able to bring my husband, Scott, alongside me to attend the double women’s session in April of 2015 (now we are both breathless with ‘Impact’!).  Scott was early in his recovery from a kidney removal and I had just launched my business as an Independent Financial Advisor.  Both big stakes!  Perfect timing to attend the training session at the center in Kihei, Maui.  When everything is breaking loose, dive into God’s word and people and He will set our paths straight, every time!  Uncle John was a man who spent his daily life in the ‘deep dive’.  His focus, power, brilliance and inspiration came from every God breathed source, his beloved family, his staff, his leaders and from all places and people both great and small…he absorbed it all to give it meaning, light and ultimately new life before God.  I give him an exponential rating of 10 to the 10th power – Google has no extension for such reviews, only God!  With honor, grace and love, I celebrate Uncle John’s remarkable life of faith with each of you and am armed with great enthusiasm for the present and future Haggai International!  Go Dr. Bev!! Crush gospel poverty!!  Our cloud of witnesses in heaven just took a big leap to include Uncle John!  For such a time as this, may we all remain encouraged and inspired by Uncle John’s life and story to change lives under God and with great love to heal our earth and expand the Kingdom one soul at a time. My Dearly Beloved Dr. John Haggai has been promoted to Glory to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. After reading hundreds of tributes, I am highly honored and deeply humbled to have known him during my 23 years of service with Haggai Institute Singapore. His many sermons, style of preaching and especially “Notes from My Diary” have greatly influenced and impacted me. Travelling with him around Asia was the highlight of my life. He was full of energy and enthusiasm, wit and wisdom – generous and gregarious, approachable and appreciated by all from the highest to the lowest of society. My wife Ruth and I always appreciated his personal touch and treasured fond memories of his visits to Singapore.

Like King David, Dr. Haggai had passionately served God’s purpose in his own generation (Acts 13:36). Glory to God in the Highest!

I was the organist at Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville when Dr. Haggai was the pastor. I was a teenager at the time and when John went in to evangelism I played for the revivals in the summers of my college years. I remember traveling with him in his chrysler imperials a lot of miles. I value those experiences….I learned a lot from him..I accompanied Chris as she sang like an angel….when Katie and I married Chris had a shower for us in her home. I have some newspaper clipping from those meetings if you all would like them for archives…..IAfter those days I became a professor or church music at Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary…..the last time I saw John was in Cincinnati when he and Chris were there to visit a donor….he called me and I went up to have lunch with them…..H was a great man and a wonderful friend.

Thank you for all you do for others and you truly have been an inspiration to all of us in your teachings and examples of generosity and fellowship.

I first met Dr. Edmund Haggai in 2010 when I attended the Advanced leadership Training in Maui. In his virtual welcome address to participants of sessions 868 & 869, I saw his burning passion for evangelism. Through his vision, my life has been greatly impacted, with my calling being made more affirmed. While Dr. Haggai is gone back home, having finished the race, I pledge to be among many others who are continuing with his vision. His legacy will live on even as rests in God’s glory!

To a great visionieer, an exemplary leader, a world model; adiue! Your impact remain adhering, your memory lives on. My entire life and ministry took a dramatic turnaround after my HLE in Jan 2007. I was and still is deeply impacted by the Haggai Vision and Mission. I now dedicate my life in this last lap of my ministry journey to equip leaders in my region to help end gospel poverty. Thank you Dr Haggai for giving your life to the developing world like ours so that everyone can have a chance to hear the Good News of salvation. Long before I had the unique opportunity of participating in the Haggai Leadership Experience, I was told of Dr. John Haggai and the Institute. However, I never dreamt that my own life would be so drastically influenced by his life, his books, and the life-transforming Leadership training he visioneered. Dr. John Edmund Haggai was a life totally submitted to God’s will and completely given to accomplish God’s purpose in establishing God’s Kingdom here on earth. I have been so honored to have been involved with this vision. As I said to Dr. Haggai once for his birthday, “thank you for being obedient in doing our Father’s dream”. And what a dream it is! I never met Dr Haggai, but he and his vision of strategic evangelism, especially as worked out at Singapore and the Mid-Pacific Center at Maui, has impacted my life powerfully.

Passionate, targetted and excellent in every thing he planned and brought to maturity; Dr John Edmund Haggai, is my inspiration. His unforgettable words : Attempt something so great for God, that if He be not in it, it is doomed to failure; are words that have guided my prayer and mission.

I thank God for the Life of Dr. John Edmund Haggai. He obeyed God’s call and today he leaves the world a better place. I remember the Haggai training in Singapore with a lot of deep gratitude when I met Dr. Haggai during the convocation. What a passionate man he was, he believed in the vision so deeply and did everything to ensure third world Leaders get this amazing leadership training. I celebrate his life in Kenya.

I bless God for the life of Dr John Edmund Haggai and his great vision of the Haggai Institute. Attending the training in 2007 at Maui, Hawaii was a great opportunity to be be exposed to dimensions of ministry that equipped me to train others. I received knowledge from a wide range of facilitators that has helped me a lot in the ministry. I have since then discipled many in person, by books, radio and TV and other online means.

The key of evangelism was strongly imparted that left an imprint in my heart. Today I’m more mindful being a soul winner in the Endtime harvest of the Kingdom of God. Haggai Institute leaves a lasting impact on one that grows. I am thankful.

May the Lord grant him rest from his rich labours of many decades and bless his legacy richly for many years more if the Lord tarries.

My training at Haggai Institute session #283 has equiped me very well to excell in ministry. I am what I am in ministry because of the impact of his ministry. May his soul Rest in Perfect Peace.

When I was in college, 1956-1958, my father was reading an article about John and looked up at me and said, “ keep your eye on the man as he is a great leader and Christian Statesman.” I did just that over the years and became a strong supporter of HI over the years. In 2007, I had a great blessing from the Lord who allowed me to participate in Haggai International Leadership Seminar in Singapore. It was such an amazing experience. I was equipped to introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a meaningful way, in Ecuador. Also, my vision about sharing and presenting the Gospel drove me to be obedient to the Lord, Who, I believe, was calling me to serve in Haggai Ministry in Ecuador. I have been doing that since 2007.

My godfather John Haggai’s commitment to the Truth has impacted countless lives in so many ways, both here on earth and for the future in Eternity. He truly was a spiritual giant among men, making an impact on the world akin to Billy Graham and D.L. Moody. He and his kind wife Christine were fixtures in my life as a child, and I have such wonderful memories of our times together.

During college, my family and I went to China with them on one of his Haggai Institute diplomatic trips – he arranged for me be able to study Shang and Zhou Dynasty bronzes first hand in museums closed to the public (a big deal for a college art history major!), have tea in the Great Hall of the People in the Forbidden City with the President’s son, and visit the Great Wall. I remember listening to Adam’s opera “Nixon in China“ while riding on a train through the Chinese countryside and eating Toblerone chocolate bars out of of the minibar when authentic meals were a bit too exotic for my tastes (tendon soup, anyone?). I remember the people there – so interested and kind. What a treasure to have shared with him, and all the more meaningful knowing the driving force was sharing His love through the leadership training initiatives of HI.

In more recent years, John was a fixture at key family events – from dedicating my son Cannon to the Lord at his christening luncheon to leading the vows at my parents’ 50th anniversary ceremony. His prayers were always remarkable, as were his stories. Hearing about his life experiences, the places he most enjoyed and how even in his mid 90s he kept his mind sharp by doing math mental exercises every day were a true inspiration.

He could connect with anyone, regardless of race or culture. He truly exemplifies a man who dedicated his life to reaching the farthest places on earth for the Lord, and reached countless more through the many books he authored. His leadership training institute has influenced so many cultures and countries around the world, and he was respected and greatly revered by so many world leaders.

But for me I’ll always remember him as Uncle John, my godfather who would tell me wonderous stories and make me laugh. He always had a twinkle in his eye and brought joy into the room with him, and I thank the Lord that he was in my life for so many years!

I never did meet Dr. J. E. Haggai in person but the ministry he initiated has impacted my life.

Through the Haggai Leadership Experience, evangelism has become a renewed focus for me; touching lives with the gospel so that they too may touch others.
I now have an extended family of like minded believers who work as a team.

A lasting legacy indeed that went beyond people he was in direct contact with.
Thank God for his life and obedience to the call.

I heard of the haggai institute from a Christian brother when I became” born again”. His story since then has inspired me to live for Christ. whiles in bible school one of his leadership books ( LEAD )was introduced to us. I quickly and eagerly photo copied it. His book has largely guided me in my Christian walk.
The institute he established in the USA is part of my dream to attend .
What great influential global leader he was.
May his cherished soul rest in perfect peace.

I was impressed by such a magnitude vision Dr. John Edmund received from the lord. and the way he dedicated himself physically and funraised Money for running the Institute. This reveals that his cal from the lord wa true. My heart has never stopped burning of evangelism since I attended the leaders´training in Hawaii in 2012 and he will never stop being a source of inspiration to me in terms of evangelism.. .

For years, John and I plotted, planned, and hatched new ways to help Christians live up to their full potential… to become everything God created us to be.

John was the perfect example of Christianity in action, and without a doubt, a man who lived his gifts and talents and beyond.

I will miss talking with you old friend. While no one can fill your shoes, we will follow your instructions to create goals so large that, without God in them, they are doomed to fail.

No question, you lived with the highest degree of Spiritual Integrity… and were the living embodiment of Spirt-Led Success we so often spoke of.

The magnitude of Dr John Edmund´s vision impressed me. -Such vision could only work for a man inspired by God. From the time I attended the session in 2012 in Maui, my heart has never stopped burning of evangelism.. He will keep on being a source of inspiration to me in terms of evangelism.

Dr. Haggai’s legacy was beyond his dreams and reached Latin America and continues to impact the lives of leaders to transform them. His divine vision transcends his death because it came from the heart of God. Thank you for fulfilling yourmission and impact my life

Dr. Haggai came to Greenville, Texas in the mid 60’s, preached a revival which I attended with my family. It was there that the Lord drew me to Himself through the preaching of Dr Haggai and I gave my heart to Jesus Christ.. I was 10 years old.
In my later years, I was given the opportunity to minister to Syrian refugees in the Dallas area. I told them of the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus, then of my own encounter with Christ through Dr. Haggai (whose father was a Syrian immigrant). The witness of Christ’s transforming power captured the ears and I pray hearts of those Syrian women that day I was having lunch with them in Dallas..
I see Dr. Haggai as my spiritual father to this day.

My thanks to my former father-in-law, Ray Hendley for introducing me to the Haggai Ministry. The Lord has led me to new visions and insight on my Christian upbringing in opening my heart and eyes wider in the life of a good Cristian steward.

After my divorce to Julia Elizabeth Hendley, I submitted myself deeper into the teachings and word of Christ. The heart ache I suffered from loosing the woman I truly loved was devastating. God gave me the strength and tools to revisit who I am and to renew my faith in Christ as a much better Christian of which I an so grateful.

Dr Haggai was a brilliant example and a fabulous caring person in his leadership to the Christian Faith world wide. He continues to lead Christians around the world in spreading the good new of Our Lord Jesus.

I will be forever grateful for this ministry to all whom enjoy and believe in the Word of Christ.
