Different stories, same need for restoration

Another day begins. Ranjith gets up with a push, with a rush to complete the morning routines as the pull of his work drags him across a 1.5-hour commute in one of the busiest cities in India. Each day feels like survival, a relentless effort to provide for his family while hoping life can be more than routine. Yet, he hopes, offering prayers to many gods and wearing ritual bracelets on his wrist, small acts of faith he believes might bring a better life.

While Ranjith pushes through his daily grind, half a world away in a high rise sits Elona, an executive of a Latin American luxury clothing firm. Her lifestyle, while starkly different and wrapped in daily interactions with influencers and celebrities, makes her feel drained, pained and lost. She believes she has everything the world could offer, so neither religion nor relationships have a say in her life. Yet she still wrestles with meaning and peace.

Meanwhile, Mariyam, a 23-year-old Ethiopian woman displaced from her country and trying to settle in a Western world, faces culture shock, limited resources, and few opportunities, doing all she can to study and rebuild her life.

Different stories, same longing, searching for and needing restoration.

Our world is filled with people such as these. Some needs are visible; others are hidden. Yet when we look as God does (1 Samuel 16:7), we see hearts longing for restoration. They may never step into a church or speak to a pastor, but they too are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26–27), and he desires to restore them to himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Who can reach them with God’s unconditional love?

God often works through everyday leaders, doctors, teachers, businesspeople, and public servants, who already stand within reach of those who need his love most. These leaders sense God’s nudge and ask, “Lord, what would you have me do?”

The Haggai Leader Experience (HLE) exists to answer that question.

Equipping That Transforms

The HLE is an immersive 11-day experiential journey engaging the heart, head, and hands of leaders from across the Global South and beyond. It brings together leaders to worship, learn, and collaborate. They discover how the Gospel restores individuals, systems, and cultures. Through practical tools, frameworks, and real-world leadership exercises, they gain clarity on how to live out their calling and influence the systems they lead.

Transformation unfolds through prayer, dialogue, and shared vision. Faculty, Haggai Leaders themselves, guide each participant through spiritual formation and leadership practice.

Each cohort becomes a tapestry of cultures and callings, shaping leaders who think globally and act locally. Within this diverse community, transformation happens as they learn from, challenge, and inspire one another.

Among the leaders attending the HLE are Emmanuel, an executive in the same office as Ranjith; Linda, a sought-after accounting professional trusted by Elona; and Margarat, a government refugee worker who supports immigrants like Mariyam as they settle into her country.

For Emmanuel, the HLE clarified his vision and identity as God’s steward. He returned home ready to bring restoration in his workplace, neighborhood, and nation.

For Linda, the highlight was deeper intimacy with God, nurtured through prayer, worship, and community. She realized that who she is in God shapes how she leads and serves others.

For Margarat, hearing stories like Mariyam’s opened her heart to compassion. She discovered her calling to serve refugees with humility and care, helping them feel a sense of belonging as they rebuild their lives.

Equipped for Action

These experiences are meaningful, but they only become fruitful when they lead to action. The HLE helps each leader apply what they’ve learned across six key areas of life — spiritual, family, ministry, work, health, and leadership.

As they reflect on how God is shaping their lives, Linda, Margarat, and Emmanuel commit to the actions he is calling them to take, demonstrating and presenting the Gospel and equipping 100+ others, multiplying restoration across workplaces, ministries, and communities.

For Emmanuel, the HLE became a turning point. What began as a desire for international exposure became a moment of rediscovery — helping him articulate how he wants to live out his calling with renewed focus.

Linda has committed to reach the influencers through social media, and the many gatherings where leaders like Elona are found.

Margaret is stepping forward with clarity and courage. She’s beginning to gather support, learn what her community needs most, and form a care initiative through her church to walk alongside refugees in her country.

Multiplication: The Ripple Effect

Haggai Leaders like these have become a beacon of hope in 190 countries, equipped with God-given purpose to demonstrate and present the Gospel and to bring restoration wherever they live and lead.

These leaders are agents of transformation, spreading the love of Christ through communities and cultures. What began in 1969 as one leader’s ‘yes’ continues to multiply, this is restoration in motion.
