More Than a Mission: Equipping Leaders, Transforming Communities

In Thailand, Haggai Leader Anan* is building a legacy that will outlast him by shaping a generation of leaders. As the director of a family-based children’s village, Anan helps provide care, stability, and the hope of God’s love to nearly 100 orphaned children. In a nation where Buddhism has long shaped culture and identity, this work is both countercultural and deeply redemptive.

Anan’s role goes far beyond that of a caretaker. His passion is to equip not only the children in his care but also young leaders and entire families throughout his community. After completing the Haggai Leader Experience, Anan was empowered with a new vision and practical tools that helped him align his ministry with God’s global mission. The training deepened his faith and clarified how he could multiply impact in sustainable, transformative ways.

Through consistent outreach in juvenile correction facilities, Anan has seen many young people encounter the Gospel, experience personal transformation, and choose a new path that keeps them from returning to those environments. He also leads multiple discipleship groups, including one for emerging leaders and another for a small, in-depth circle of believers who are growing in their faith and calling. His approach to demonstrating and presenting the Gospel is simple yet impactful, always tailored to the context of his listeners.

One of his most innovative strategies involves using English education, a highly valued skill in Thai society, to reach middle-class families with the message of Christ. By offering free English lessons intertwined with biblical truth, Anan has gained trust and opened doors not only to children, but to their parents. Many of these families, drawn by the practical benefit, encounter something far more valuable: the hope of the Gospel.

And it all circles back to being equipped—not just with learnings and techniques, but with vision. Through the Haggai Leader Experience, Anan gained a clearer understanding of his role in God’s redemptive story. His leadership now multiplies through the lives of others, as children are raised in faith, youth turn toward a new path, and families find Christ through creative outreach. The result is not just spiritual growth but true community transformation. As Anan reflects on the impact, one word rises to the surface: restoration.

“Bringing children and youth to know God is a permanent change,” he says. “It changes this world sustainably. It’s a declaration of the victory of Jesus.”

In a rapidly changing world, the need for equipped leaders has never been greater. Anan’s story reminds us that leaders who are well-equipped, grounded in truth, and specifically sent can multiply their impact. They move beyond influence to lasting transformation, beyond compassion to real change. Every leader equipped can impact a nation.
