By The Thousands
“Jesus is fulfilling His word – the poor kid from Goiania, Brazil, who had only left his state twice, has now preached in over 40 nations to crowds exceeding tens of thousands per night. God is faithful, and this is just the beginning!” Rubens says.
Rubens’ native land is home base for his evangelism ministry, Global Gospel Action. Brazil’s economic crisis – the worst recession in its history – has greatly affected the poor in the nation. The increase in poverty resulted in the increase of drug-related problems and crime.
“Last year, we had over 60,000 homicides in Brazil, and this year will likely be worse,” he says.
Rubens and his team are working diligently to bring change.
“In 2015, Global Gospel Action had nine campaigns reaching 100,000 people. In 2018, we had 15 campaigns reaching 250,000 people. What I learned at Haggai enabled me to become intentional about identifying our ministry needs and pursuing people with the talents and gifts to fill those needs. The understanding and implementation of that perspective has allowed us to grow significantly.
“We need the proclamation of the uncompromising message of the cross that can redeem a nation. We also need Kingdom-minded leaders who will cause political changes and restore the credibility of the people in the Brazilian institutions.”
Because of Rubens’ Haggai Leader Experience in 2016, his ability to evangelize and develop leaders has soared.
“The mention of Haggai leadership training brings respect and credibility all over the world. More than once, doors were open because I am part of Haggai International.”
Rubens believes the Lord is calling him and his team to train an army of evangelists. They are planning to identify, mentor, and sponsor those evangelists in the developing world, especially in nations less reached by the Gospel.
“Usually, we reach one person per every dollar spent in most of the developing world.”
Additionally, Rubens and his team have trained 15,000 leaders in the years following his Haggai Leader Experience.
“During the outreaches, we involve and train local leaders so that they will continue the work building Bible clubs in the schools that were reached and connect the young people to a local church. This work has been very effective in helping young people find Christ in Brazil.”
Their impact doesn’t stop there. The Global Gospel Action Team created a devotional plan, “How to Pray for Healing and Get Results,” available on the YouVersion Bible app, which has over 150,000 subscribers. Rubens’ passion for evangelism traces back to his teen years.
“When I was 18 years old, I had a supernatural experience and saw Jesus in a vision. He said, ‘I will send you to the nations to bring revival through signs and wonders.’ My conversion was radical, and two weeks later, I had my first evangelistic event reaching all the students of my school.
“What I learned at Haggai enabled me to become intentional about identifying our ministry needs and pursuing people with the talents and gifts to fill those needs.”
“My dream is that every single person on earth will experience Jesus’ love and the power of His resurrection. I also believe it is vital to train and empower local leaders to reach their communities and influence their cultures for Christ.”
Rubens is grateful his Haggai sponsor enabled him to attend Haggai and become equipped to reach the world.
“Only eternity will reveal the full impact and legacy of their giving. I’m so grateful they listened to the voice of the Holy Spirit and committed to empower leaders to fulfill their divine calling. Their sponsorship is affecting people all over the world now – and in many generations to come.”
