12octAll DayDevotional for October 12, 2020Psalm 73:25-26

A time of distress, and a time of despair. A moment of indiscretion brought much grief and sorrow to David, a man after God’s heart. David had yielded to the temptation of committing adultery. However, he arose from that fallen state and in remorse and repentance, found his way back to God. As a man after God’s heart, David knew that God is forever faithful and there is none other in heaven, but God. This assurance brought him to a place of total surrender to God, and total dependence on Him for strength and help.

Just like David, our heart and flesh can fail us time and time again. However, if we fall, we are assured that there is a way back to God because He is our portion forever, and will not turn away. Instead, His divine strength will enable us to remain strong
in Him. Even in the face of temptations and the lure of lusts and pleasures of this world, we can say like David, “My flesh and my heart many times they fail, but God shall be the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Father, thank you for being enough. Amen
