The Business Of The Gospel

Haggai leader Devendra Chowdary takes his secular skills and applies them for the good of the Kingdom.

From the business of sales to the business of the Gospel, Devendra Chowdary has learned how to take his secular skills and apply them for the good of the Kingdom.

Devendra spent 32 years in marketing, sales, administration, and learning and development. He worked for Infosys Ltd, Steel Authority of India Ltd, and Citibank. His profile is in the top 10 percent of most viewed profiles on Linkedin.

As a formidable force in the business arena, Devendra has moved into using his skills in leadership training to work in God’s arena. He now teaches at Indian Institute of Management of Bangalore on the values of Jesus Christ in leadership. He is also a life member of National Human Resources Development and leads forums on learning and development.

Devendra attended the Haggai Leader Experience in 1997 in Singapore. It made such an impact that he left the corporate world to train others in leadership and missions. He helped facilitate two seminars in Singapore and Maui on the Biblical mandate for missions and training leaders. He has also led seminars all over India on leadership, communication, and integrity and has organized Haggai seminars in Bangalore.

“I share the Gospel regularly and have written two tracts,” says Devendra, “which have been translated into four Indian languages.”

Devendra says that the Haggai Leader Experience in particular allowed him to have more time with his family and helped him get involved with many ministries. He now has more access to churches as a speaker and says the experience has given him a huge network of believers. He says he is “proud to be associated with this brand” because “churches recognize it, and Christian leaders accept [him].”

These connections have yielded much fruit for the Kingdom of God. Devendra has trained 2,000 believers in missions and 11,000 non-believers in leadership. He says his time with Haggai has “start[ed] a chain reaction of change.”

Though he was raised Hindu, Devendra found his way to God through a Christian classmate. The classmate witnessed to him and gave him a Bible to read. Unfortunately, Devendra’s family threatened him if he continued his search for Jesus, but Devendra kept seeking and was baptized against his family’s wishes.

Above all, Devendra’s main goal is to get people to “passionately love the Lord Jesus.”

“Every day I seek to love the Lord much more by reaching out to His people to help them,” says Devendra.
