Brazil Below The Surface

All is not well in Brazil.

Political corruption is one of the biggest problems with which Brazil is currently contending. Debt and problems within the economy are made worse by corrupt politicians and politics. Unemployment and violence runs rampant.

Drug crimes are becoming so prevalent that military force is being used in Rio de Janeiro to control a deteriorating situation.

Brazil’s supreme court upheld significant changes to the laws that protect the Amazon and other biomes to reduce penalties for illegal deforestation.

The annual carnival, a seemingly beautiful celebration, brings along with it drunkenness, violence, and sexual immorality.

How is a Christian like Haggai Leader Marcelo Simonato supposed to combat all this?

He spreads the Good News to all who will listen.

Marcelo is a chief financial officer who writes books about leadership and excelling in the professional field. Through the Haggai Leader Experience, he realized his opportunities to follow the Great Commission in his life.

Haggai leader and author Marcelo Simonata (center) releases a book for young persons on how to face a job interview.

“The training was very important to inspire me and to understand God’s plan in my life,” says Marcelo. Since attending the experience in 2007, Marcelo has ministered to a group of 12 young adults and teaches them how to grow in their careers and be “influencers on society according to the Jesus model.”

He has started a prayer group at his work and speaks four to five times a month about excelling in the workplace, and he uses those gateways to tell his audience about God’s love. He hopes to use his knowledge about succeeding in the workplace as an avenue to talk about God’s mercy and love and introduce people to the Good News of Christ.

All of the trouble that Brazil faces seems insurmountable, but Marcelo knows that God can change the hearts and the minds of the people and that prayer is a powerful weapon.

“God, who is in control of everything, answers us when we pray,” says Marcelo.

So, Marcelo asks for prayers for his country and its people – that all would know and turn to the Lord.
